I found a shop locally that has 1 case of Federal small rifle match primers. He'll only sell the whole case and wants $500 cash. I don't really "need" a full case, but it's looking like things might not improve for a while, and compared to gun broker, it's pretty cheap. What are your thoughts?

The last box I bought was 5 bricks/sleeve of SRP and it was $100 when they put them on the shelf they were $25 a brick/sleeve.
That was the end of 2019

Like others said, depends on the size of the case. As a seller that wants a little extra, breaking it up might yield a higher return. Didn't say it was right, just an observation.

If a case is 10k and there 5 cents each for a match primer your not in gouging territory for now. I would get them before final election results. That price could double later today.

Primers come in sleeves of 5,000; pistol, rifle, shotgun all the same.

It all depends what brand you are buying. Most brands are that way, but Fiocchi is weird and sells them 150 to a sleeve, 10 sleeves to a brick(making 1500 per brick), and 8 bricks to a case(making it 12,000 per case). I haven't seen Fiocchi "match" primers, though, so I would assume it is likely a case of 5000 primers.

At that price they probably will be sitting there for a good long time. IF you do decide to buy them in the future I bet they will still be there. It comes down to do you want them bad enough to pay those prices or not.

Bought 2 cases of CCI SPP (5k/case) for just under $260 total out the door maybe a year ago.
Today, $500 for 5k of anything, Match or not, wouldn't be in my immediate future as I'm still well-stocked.
But, everyone's situation is different.

I’m just not shooting as much as I used to. I have enough primers to last a good while, it’s bullets I’m short on. Last primers I bought were 1.25 cents each. I know I won’t see that again. If your local I can share.
Thanks for the offer, but we’re opposite sides - I’m in CA.
I’ve had good luck with Everglades for bullets - they shipped within a week on my last order.
