The last sleeve of lrp I used had a 79c price tag on it...

I have an old box of 45-70 cartridges with a 13.00 price tag on it. Can't remember how old it must be.

A friend gave me a box of 1000 CCI LPP’s that have a $13 price marked on them. He also gave me a 1000 pc box of 900 SPPs he bought at the same time. They work just fine.
I am guessing they are at least 20 years old.

Probably close. I think I was paying $10-12 for a brick of Winchester SPP's back before Y2K became a public "thing". Us guys who worked with the Big Iron saw it coming before the internet - and we all spoke up - but "management" didn't want to hear about a problem ten-year's out. Sounds kind of familiar, huh?

I have a box of 25 auto that was marked down to $2.59.

I can remember buying .41 and .44 Mag. ammo in 50 round boxes for $8.00 a box. But you have to keep in mind a good job back then only paid $150 a week. But a $20.00 bill would buy 3 or 4 bags of groceries and gasoline was 20 cents per gallon.

Does that mean a box of .44 Mag *should* cost $65 these days?

Well. It does if you can find one.

Fortunately I took up handloading back in the 80s and haven't bought any centerfire ammo since then. When I started handloading I could load a 50 round box of .45 ACP ammo for around $2.60.

I have an old 20-count box of Winchester Super-X in .348 Winchester with a $46.95 price tag.
That is a big honkin' lever rifle cartridge. Looking forward to sending a few of 'em downrange.

A little sporting goods store in Queens, which happening to be across the street from the indoor below ground range I shot at, used to sell me boxes of standard velocity Remington .22's for 50 cents when I was 12.

Of course that that was 60+ years ago. lol

The first couple of boxes of 22 I bought were 50 cents for 50 rounds. It was closeout ammo, but still, as a kid 50 cents was great.

Got these from a friend of mine who in turn got them from a friend of his, The UMC box of .32 S&W is marked "55 cents"!
