Is a sign of too much gas on an AR10, 308, a non-feeding issue? This thing shoots twice then won't feed. Once the third round got a bit mangled as the bolt tried to "jam" into battery. Mostly, it will pick up the third round, it looks like it's in battery but won't fire. There is no forward assist. Or, I should look at something else?

Does it lock back on the last round? If not under. Or too heavy of a RC spring, or buffer.

What direction is the brass ejecting? 3:00 - 4:30 or forward? If forward over gassed.

Thanks you sir. I'm not sure about it locking back as it will take the "last" round and attempt to place it into battery. If it had a forward assist, I would think a bump might get it there. One round, the third, it just mangled. It mad me think it was trying so hard to shove it forward the round did not have "time" to go forward. And I wondered if the concept of "bolt bump" is here? If I even know what it is, but I'm thinking that it shoves the round in hard enough that the bolt backs off or "bump's" off? Is any of this correct? If I recall, the spent rounds end up more at 2 - :230. I can't thank you enough for the help here!

Home built or factory? If home built what parts were used? Some don't play well together.
Home built. And yeah your right. When I try taking parts off of my .308 Black Rain - a company I do not support - I see differences in several pieces. BSF made the barrel and sold me the gas tube and block. I can not recall the bolt. But the Black Rain's bolt will hit the insides of the build's upper. The gas tube is an issue as I have half the folks telling me it's too long and the other saying it's too short. I've gotten pic's of other's .308's with the tube being in one or the other as if it doesn't matter. I suck but it's fun to learn. It's not a money or time thing. It's fun, was fun, and I'm learning a lot from folks like yourself. Thanks!

What kind of magazines are you using?
P-mags, One is 10, the other is 20. I going through a bit of ammo trying to figure this out. That doesn't bother me except Ya can't find the stuff. I reload .308 but I fear I might be adding another unknown. Thanks

My first thought was the magazine. The magazine could be riding high possibly engaging the bolt hold open lever. If they are riding high the bolt carrier could be dragging on the lips slowing down the bolt enough to not fully load the next round and go into battery.

Who's magazines are you using?

I had problem with some AST that had a spring/follower problem. The back was dragging a the bolt was over ridding the bullet. Engaging the bullet about 1/2" form the base, and creasing the brass.

This forum is a great resource, but you might do better to go over here - Forums - 308AR.com Community Lots of folks have had problems with the things that you are experiencing and they address a lot of that.
