15or so years ago Gander Mountain opened up a new (and now closed) store nearby… they had a “as new” Sako Finnlight in 308 for $600….I’m not sure I’ve ever handled a nicer rifle or a slicker action… It haunts me.

Colt Python, the longest barrel with original scope.
I replaced the hammer spring in it for a guy, then test shot it, at 25 yards it was magnificent.
That was back about 1998 and he wanted $800 for it which would have been a lot for
us back then. Now in the condition it was in plus the box the $$$$ would be more than
I paid for my first home.

In about 1990/91 M-1 Carbines and Garands were pouring in from South Korea. I did buy a Garand for 300 bucks but passed on the Carbine from the same dealer at the same price; bought a Ruger Mini 14 instead. Not a huge regret---still have them both---but 300 dollar Carbines will never been seen again.
