SAA Base Pin Question

I've never personally seen one. They are pretty significant pieces of steel and I would think things would have to get pretty seriously out of hand before one gets bent.

My thoughts exactly. I had some goof try to tell me that it was a common problem. I laughed to his face. Almost 150yrs in the making, if the cylinder pin bending was a common issue, it’d be well known

The cylinder pin of a single action revolver is 1/4" in diameter. That is a pretty hefty piece of steel.

It's not like a double action revolver, where slamming the yoke shut can bend something.

The single action cylinder pin is normally sitting completely supported at both ends in the frame.

I can't see how anything is going to bend it.

Even with stout loads.

+ to all responses; I have no idea how a pin could get bent unless out of the gun and without substantial force and intent to purposely bend it - it is like a hinge pin of a door hinge - a completely shrouded and very substantial piece of steel - two mules and a boy would struggle to bend an SAA cylinder pin.

The base pin is supported full length in a Single Action revolver. And very closely fitted, through the cylinder. I fail to see where any bending can occur while it is in the gun. Outside loose, who knows what happens to base pins?
