i guess this question is for you readers with chrony's. has anyone out there ever chronographed loads with varying oal's? I ask for 2 reasons, 1) I dont have a chrony 2) there ia something about a p220 mag design that forces me to set back sierra 185 jhp loads to 1.19" instead of the 1.21" in the sierra manual. I understand this increases the pressure and I rarely load to max. just curious if anyone has tested this variable as they have the loaded rounds in the tumbler issue.

p220 ... sierra 185 jhp ... 1.19" instead of the 1.21" in the sierra manual.
45ACP is a low pressure caliber so if you are not at max charge, it may not be a concern. If you are at max charge and loading below published OAL, you may want to reduce your powder charge.

FYI, for higher pressure 9mm/40S&W, if I am using significantly shorter OAL/bullet seating depth than published, depending on powder burn rate, I reduce start/max charges by .2-.3 gr for my initial powder work up.

What powder and charge are you using?

on latest load with no pressure signs 6.2gr win 231. CCI spp, sierra 185gr jhp, loaded at 1.20", wonderful load that JUST fits in my p220 mag, might have to bring it to 1.19". It definately clangs the steel
