Would you prefer to store powder outdoors or load it and store ammo outdoors?

Does she park her car in the garage? If so that's more of a fire danger than smokeless gun powder. You might show here how hard powder is to light off. Gasoline, Lithium batteries are far more dangerous than gun powder.

Think of all the fires caused by charging our cel phones. Now with the electric car there will be some major house fires.
Sorry but not on topic—asked and got opinions on storage options—decision to keep out of house has already been made.

Sell the guns and stuff before it is ruined. You in a seller's market fortunately. Never should have been spending money on toys you have no place to keep in the first place.

Call it a learning opportunity.
Not on topic—asked for and received powder storage options for outside house. Nothing about guns or selling or toys or stuff.

I no longer have climate controlled outdoor storage for my powder (15lbs), no prospect for regaining it, and am not willing to store it inside my home.

Would loading the powder and keeping ammo outdoors be better, worse, or no difference?

Unairconditioned garden shed only option.

Do you have the option of building something? I'm in the process of building what are basically referred to by the ATF as "Type 1 Magazines", which meet my insurance requirements. Basically they will be 6x6x8 wood boxes with 1 inch thick wood siding and flooring. Framed inside with insulation. Door will be weather sealed. No metal in construction other than hinges/latches. They will be on skids to raise off the ground (concrete in my case), but the skids in other circumstances would mean no permit required (not relevant to me, may be relevant to you). Anyway, they will have a small 6K BTU window AC unit mounted on them, and a small dehumidifier (plumbed to a drain so it doesn't have to be emptied). I use a brand of wifi monitor made by Govee that reports temp and humidity to my phone, and will have one of those in there and a wifi smoke detector. It will be relatively cheap to build, especiallly if you scrounge stuff. Mine will be under a cover, but wouldn't be much extra to add tar paper and Kool Coat to the roof, along with a gutter all the way around, or build roof angled with slight front overhang, and gutter on the rear. And you would obviously not need to meet the 1 inch requirement for wood siding, so could go super cheap there, like 1/4 or paneling even if it isn't going to be somewhere horribly exposed to bad weather.

You married?
I am, 20 years. My wife supports my hobbies, long as they don't come out of the house finances. Including at times allowing/permitting/needling me about storing/building a motorcycle in the first floor spare room. And converting a 2nd floor space into my smithing/reloading space.

My ex was rabid anti-everything, hence ex.

So how about a explanation?

With questions like this I try not to think about why the question is being asked or what would I do in the same sitiation but what is the person ASKING for? You asked if loaded ammo or components stored more easily and that kinda migrated into how easily. So I said what I thought was a good all-purpose solution. Maybe kinda pricey - I don't know how much you make and don't care - but certainly utilitarian. Mixed use is always best in my book.

I hate it when someone asks, "Is Bullseye a good powder for target .38Spl in a 4" revolver?" and they get 100 replies about super-bangin' deer hunting loads for 10mm. o_O

Actually maybe

The small size of these makes them very attractive. Thanks

You’ve been very helpful per usual. I don’t want to say money is no object because that’s not true but costs aren’t typically my major consideration. I agree multi purpose is always a good goal.

A few years ago I did buy a Toro Greenskeeper mower so I could make a backyard putting green. I’m still paying for it and I’m not talking about dollars if you get my drift.

No sorry.

You could make it super small as well. I imagine something like 4x4x4 would work, and that would be super cheap to keep cool with a tiny window AC unit. I actually got the idea of the basic design outside of those specific to the type 1 magazine requirement from a hunting buddy who made a place in his carport to hang game. His construction was 4x4x8, framed out inside, insulated with normal fiberglass insulation, then layered with a 1/2 inch foam sheeting. He had 2 small 8K BTU ACU units, with the thermostats replaced with ones that allowed it to be set much colder, and they would keep that thing at 45 degrees. He'd hang a deer in there no problem, and even had an elk stuffed in there once with the 4 quarters in two rows. I figure one AC without modification will work for me, as I only need to keep it under 80 I figure, maybe mid 70s max. Any room size dehumidifier will handle that small of space easy as well.

Does such an animal exist for the consumer?

Not to pry but, was there some kind of an incident or discussion which prompted this rash action? My wife is extremely conservative. She doesn't make rash decisions. If anything she may suffer slightly by paralysis by analysis but, really, she's very close to perfect. No idea why she puts up with my silly self but, I'm grateful she does.

I do recall several years ago though she had a sudden interest in hiring a lawyer to make out a new will and doing a complete inventory of our assets. About a week after I got out of the hospital after having a series of heart attacks over the course of a month, went into cardiac arrest in a walk-in clinic and got shipped to cardiac emergency, went flat-line a few times in the ER, had to be resuscitated, and had two emergency heart cath surgeries.

Oddest thing, she typically never jumps to rash decisions like that.

Married here as well. There is give and take in every relationship. When dealing with women, logic is not always the answer. They are more emotionally driven than we are.

A woman who is highly particular... like the OP wife seems to be may be overly sensitive about gunpowder... but may also be very picky about keeping a clean house and serving healthy food.

There's always give and take. Those who refuse to listen and consider their wife's feelings on certain matters either cease to be married, or end up wishing they were single. Lol

We don't need to understand WHY women have the feelings they do... we just need to respect those feelings... just like they need to respect our 'needs' to spend resources on guns, cars, motorcycles, etc... that have no logical importance in their minds. Lol

Sounds like a real blessing and I still gasp at your heart problems—makes my STEMI last summer seem inconsequential.

My wife has incredible intuition or the Holy Spirit just helps her more. She identified the first ever female intel officer used by any Eastern European country because she “just knew.” This was when our intel community was run by gray beards who just couldn’t accept that “girls” could do any of this.

But why?!
Why do you people care? I give him credit for having greater forbearance with all the prying questions than I would have had. He has politely declined to give the answers you so desperately want, so leave it alone. It's HIS life, HIS marriage, and he's OK with decision he and his wife have made. We don't need to know anything more.

Since the mods haven't locked the thread yet, despite his asking them to do so, I wouldn't blame him if he unwatched his own thread.

Leave the guy alone.
