I've got a half dozen+ plus backstraps of varying sizes in a box. Dummy me, I didn't ID which gun they went to. And none are marked with a manufacturer's logo although all have their "size" labeled.

Anyone got an easy way to tell which is which...or am I fated to inspect all my pistols with changeable backstraps to see what matches what.

Clearly I'd rather spend time at the range than doing this.

I tend to just keep them in the box the pistol came with. Which conveniently also has the make, model and serial number on it.

I have no good solution for you, other than to separate by design first, and go from there.

Afraid not...

I'm like WrongHanded in that I keep the extra ones in the case that the gun came in. Maybe you can try to match them up by checking them with their texture/design features or if there's any checkering/grooves on them or how they look compared with the backstraps already on the guns. Once you've identified them put them in their own baggie and label them for future reference.

Since you have a half-dozen or so backstraps, and most guns come with a couple extra sizes...sounds like you have maybe 3 or 4 handguns worth of extras? Seems like a five minute job of sitting down with the guns in question and matching backstraps. You shouldn't even have to remove the current backstraps...just hold the mystery backstraps up against the gun and see which one looks like the installed backstrap (but just slightly smaller or bigger version). No rocket surgery involved.

I have several handguns with interchangeable backstraps...they're all different enough that if I laid them all out next to a particular gun, it'd be immediately apparent which one went with the gun.
