Where to keep your gun in the bedroom?

If anyone can figure out who you are, you are on a gun forum…hence you have guns. Stating that you have one under your pillow isn’t exactly information that’s going to be useful to anyone.

Yeah, a bit of paranoia is probably a good idea, but it's easy to take it too far.

Probably true. But we are constantly reminded how lawyers look at a persons history and may misconstrue things for their benefit, at your detriment. I think I’ll just keep the details to myself, never know when Murphy will show up.

PRO TIP:
Supplement door locks with a fireman's door wedge.
It will render it nearly impossible to push a door in.
Certainly a way to boost available time to reach a firearm.

SBR leaning up right between nightstand, and bed... daily carry handgun on nightstand.

91 pounds of German Shepherd to let me know when it's time to grab one of them.

...I wasn't all the way awake, just about halfway. ....By now I'm all the way awake, heart pounding. I just collapse, trembling, breathing hard, and lay the shotgun down. From then on I've kept it in the closet so I have to wake all the way up and get out of bed to get to it. I just don't trust myself to do the right thing when I'm half asleep....

This sounds like a good case and point not to ever get drunk. The cousin suffered for it no doubt. Drunk, it might take longer than getting from the bed to the closet to wake all the way up. Don't trust yourself half-asleep or drunk. If you want to be trustworthy, never get drunk. The best way to guarantee this, is to never drink.

My advice isn't directed at the OP in particular. I suspect he already possesses this wisdom. Rather I can't think of anyone for whom it isn't good advice not to get drunk.

My story.
Our first doberman, we took him over from his fourth owner. Best dog ever, btw. Bad owners, good dog. A quick learner as you will see.
I'm awakened by that feeling you get when somebody is staring at you. I'm laying on my side and when I open my eyes I see what I think is black bear nose to nose with me. Out goes my right first with everything I have.
From that time forward when he wanted to wake me he would touch my foot and step back.

I've also come fully awake kneeling beside the bed with my pistol aimed at the bedroom doorway. Doing the playback in my head off how I got there I remembered a shove from the wife and words to the effect of "somebody's in the house". Luckily it was just something that randomly fell in the living room.

I do like the magnets. That way you don't have to fool with a drawer while still keeping your piece out of sight. Can even tilt a revolver for an easy open grab- not laying down flush. Can mount in most any position and location if you have the right furniture.
