Said goodbye to an old friend yesterday. I generally don't keep guns I don't shoot anymore, and this one was getting into the "too expensive to fire" category. To think I used to not bat an eye at running a couple hundred rounds of commie surplus through it in a range session. It was a bit of a pain to deep clean, so I tended to shoot a bunch at once to "buy once and cry once."

This rifle was legit in every way, in lightly used but good condition. Bore and internals were well cared for. Bought by a local buyer who could inspect. If you have one of these collecting dust in your safe, here's what they're worth in the real world. I was expecting 1600-2K

I think I bought this one from JG sales or IO for about $600 on sale minus a coupon I got for ordering a bunch of $.10/round ammo. Wish I'd had the funds to buy 4 of them.

That is the thing people need to keep in mind when looking at those old ad's from the 50-60's.

I think I paid $799 for mine. Have some new loads worked up for it, but weather is nasty now.

Yea my coworker bought one last year based on an older parts build kit. Think he paid $2600 with a handful mags. My LGS had a new one on the wall and they wanted about the same price. I hope they get another one 1 day. My impression lately has been supplies for the rifle dried up again, new or used

Hehe... Paid $650 back around 2010. Shot the snot out of it, had 4 spare mags with carrying pouch, all the original kit, sold last year for $2,850. Now the Mosin is the only 7.62x54R hanging around to burn through a couple tins of ammo.

Was fun to shoot, cool looking but would rather realize the gain and move on.

That's INSANE! I'm now thinking about offing mine!

I have an adjustable gas piston in it too, and a spare scope, another scope mount with rails so you can use non commie optics....

I got mine when they were like $1000-$1200. I thought it was worth the price then. Accurate enough and can be pushed decently with hand loaded cartridges. I eventually bought a Belarusian 4-12 side rail scope for it, and I can definitely get it to group a bit better just cause I know what I’m aiming at.

It amazes me at times how certain firearms greatly increase in value. The SKS and even the Romanian M69 2 training rifles are examples of this. No those two have not increased in value as much as the Romanian PLS but they have still had a drastic increase in value compared to what they cost years ago.

I had one, was barely worth the $729 I pad for it in 2007. Traded it a few years later for an unfired commercial 7.65mm 6" Luger and a Ruger Single Six .32 mag.

Even if I had money coming out of my ears, I wouldn't bother with another, especially at $2,500+. Just an overgrown kalashnikov with a long, whippy barrel. 2 MOA if you're lucky. An $800 PSA .308 AR will shoot circles around them.
