The brass flew about 20 feet at 2:00. One flew at 3:00 and one at 5:00. I had one get pinched on the way out. Im going to leave it at that. 2 reasons. I never did find the .045 i lost. And one of the screws i had use a torx bit to tighten it. I fear i'll strip it to much if i try again.

Sounds like you are due for a new gas block. I punched the gas port on my barrel out to .062 that way it would cycle the classic mini14 pet load, which is about a start load of H322 and put an adjustable gas block on there for use with normal full power ammo.

I'll call Ruger and see if i can order some. I put a rubber washer in for shock buffer. I take it out and shoot it again. The screws were awful tight to break loose.

A little update. I ordered new gas block screws and a Wheeler fat wrench, I also found my .045 bushing in. I put it in. And just hand tightened the block for now. I watched some videos of the fat wrench being used. There is no way my harbor fright ratchet one is correct.

I think somebody said it earlier in the thread, but at least in my experience, even torque is more important than correct torque on a mini's gas block.

I did mine with an Allen wrench, and then re-did it when I change jobs and they actually had a quarter inch drive torque wrench....the deflection style one, not the clicker..... I didn't see any real changing accuracy.

The .045 bushing worked great. The brass flew about 8 feet. The loads with the same powder weight. Kept the brass at 2-3:00. upload_2023-3-27_16-44-58.gif Question, after i get them torqued even. Should i use loc-tite?
