Somethings gotta go,
Springer loaded, really like this one.
S&W billboard, never comes out of the safe
Two colts, series 80 5" and 1953 5"
I think I should keep the colts....

Variety is nice, so you could keep one from each maker and sell the extra Colt.

Err, when and where will you be posting the 'for sale' ad for the Colt? :D

I would sell the Colts as you will get the most money out of them and they do the same thing as the SA and S&W. If you are user, sell the Colts, if you are a collector, sell the others and keep the Colts.

I'm not a fan of the series 80 Colts so that is the one I would sell. I don't like the S&W at all so I might sell that as well. The "billboard" on the S&W 1911s is truly U.G.L.Y. :barf:

The one that does not get used goes if something has to go.

Never voluntarily get rid of a gun you like. That does not make any sense.

Why must any of them go? Don't you know the rules of the game?

The one with the most 1911s wins !

P.S. Even thinking about selling the Colts is foolish, series 80 or not, IMHO.

Sell the one that's

(a) the easiest to replace
(b) you'll never use and/or not miss

There was a thread a few days ago about "never sold a gun". To me, that means you didn't have many to start with or are keeping something you don't like or won't use.

If I still had every gun I've ever owned it would take another 2 or 3 safes. I keep stuff that I'll shoot or has sentimental value. Run of the mill stuff can be replaced anytime

What??

Selling a pistol, are you nuts? Sell some old stuff on ebay and get more guns, then take two asprins and wake up from the bad dream you're having. Aw shucks, the safe queen as the other poster stated is the only possible choice between the evils.

i would sell my jeep before i sold a handgun that i used, ditch the S&W

I agree, if you are going to sell something and it has to be one of those handguns let someone else buy the S&W that will use and enjoy it, it isn't right to keep it closed up in your safe.

While I detest the idea of selling any, you said something must go. Then I second the opinion that you sell the collector ones - most expensive, least used - unless they have significant sentimental value to you. In the latter case, get rid of the least characterful ones and keep your mementos. :)

Either way, you are going to be hurting, so might just as well get it over with. :(

Thanks guys. I have decided to sell something else to fund a new or new to me Commander or similar style 1911. I'm going to take the S&W to range Tuesday night and run 100 rounds thru it. That way I can jusitfy keeping it.

Sell the billboard S&W. If you ever want another, you can always get a newer model without the offending billboard.
