I know that everyone wants to hear something about their own interests in New orleans, btu i thought i'd ask anyway.

I'd really consider it a favor if someone could provide some info about a specific area for me.

Its in New orleans, LA, between the Mississippi Rive and Lake Pontchartrain; in the Metairie area (maybe called 'Mid City').
It is a residence within the triangle formed by the roads where hwy 10 splits into 610, closer to the split than to the 'base' of that triangle, almost in a straight line between Moss Memorial Library and Thurgood Marshall Middle School.
It can also be described as being between New orleans Country Club and Fair Grounds race Course.
I know there is a broken levee right near there.

I sure would appreciate any real good recon for that area!

Thanks,
C-

p.s. to make it somewhat gun related: I was talking with a friend about what firearm to bring someone who remains in the flooded city, assuming one could get it to them. Stainless or Glock for rust resistance and low maintenance? rilfe for better overall utility and more 'deterrant' effect?
Anyway, it wont matter one bit if the neighborhood described above is not accessible. C-

Take a look here...www.gnocdc.org - they said they were going to try and update the info with elevation maps and that might help you determine how bad the area is flooded...

I just got a call this morning that my Nat'l Guard unit is being deployed to the region for disaster relief immediately. If I can get a first hand look and access to the internet I'll let you know.

Thanks bro!

Thanks fo rthat! That's perfect.
They are thinkig of sending me (not alone of course) as well. I intend to do a 'paddle by' if I can as well. But so far no certain word if I am going.

if you would do that (if you get the opportunity, that is) that would be very above and beyond!

I think it would be impossible at this stage to learn anything about a specific structure. The whole city is a mess and the devastation is thorough and widespread. They are saying that 80% of the city is under water, the levee is broken letting sea water in and the water level was still rising as of this morning. One newsman reported that people were walking in hip-deep water in the street and saw a shark swim by.

The city will never be the same. Many historic buildings and areas will simply cease to exists. The loss of life, human and otherwise, will be of monumental proportions and the lasting effects on the whole area will be severe.

My heart goes out to anyone living through this nightmare and to those with interests there.

cool maps

C-500!
Hey, that's a pretty cool site.
I forund the area easy enough.
Now to wait for the water-level info to be added.
Thanks!
