I know they don't make anything, and are owned by Benelli. I was moseying around the local Gander Mountain looking to buy a new/used shootin' iron and spending most of my time in SxS section. Picked up a Uplander and it came up to my shoulder real nice. Sight plane was perfect, almost seems as if is fitted to me. Also checked out a Condor, real nice also. Looks like I can get a Condor Combo (12 and 20 ga tubes) and an Uplander for ~$800 + tax, which just so happens be what I have available (permission) to spend.

Anything I should be aware/afraid of ??

I have the Condor and I like it.

Why not buy one, if you like it, buy the other? If not, it's still not that expensive, and you've got a gun you can throw around.

Thanks.

$$$ well spent

I have an uplander special, and am very happy with it. The lines aren't perfect, but it goes boom, shoots straight, and you can't beat the price. I have a friend that has been hunting with an uplander for years, and loves it. If you do a search through this forum, you will find that most of those who don't have them like to bag on them, and most of those who have one are very happy with them. For what it's worth.

I got a Condor for $299 at Dicks last summer. I have shot a lot of skeet with it since and really like it. Goes bang every time and patterns well. After 20K rounds through it, it may need repair but who knows.

20 Gauge on a 12 Gauge frame is a waste of your money IMHO. Just get the 12 and shoot light loads if you want to. That receiver is a clunker for a 20, but the 12 isn't at all bad if you like how it shoulders. Or at least put the 20 barrels on it and see how you like the way it swings. If you like it, hey, go ahead.

I wouldn't put all my eggs in one basket, though -- and I'd say that if you want to buy 2 Brownings, 2 Remingtons, or 2 Stoegers. Buy one Stoeger. If you like it after some time at the clay range, you'll be happy to buy another. If you don't, you can buy something else next time.

If what you really want is a SxS, check out a CZ Huglu before dropping the cash. For well under $800, you can get a real beauty of a gun.

i picked up the condor comp model last summer and i really like it... the finish isn't high end but it looks good and it seems to be built like a brick... i'd buy another one...

I say go for it, they're great guns. I have one of their Coach Guns and it's never done me wrong. Great weapon for a small investment, who could ask for anything more?

Thanks everyone,

The reason I liked the Stoeger's is that they both fit me pretty well. I tried everything they had there (much to the exasperation of the sales guys) to see what fit me best. Everything from Benelli, Browning, Winchester, Weatherby, Ruger, CZ, Franchi, Verona, Beretta, Lanber, SKB, Spartan/Remington, and Stevens at least once and most several times. When I threw the Stoeger's up to my shoulder, it just felt and looked right. I literally saw nothing but the bead on a line. Others I tired, I could see alot of the rib or the barrel, Others, I coudn't even see the bead without raising my head.

The only reason for the Combo 12/20 O/U, is because of my 12 year old daughter. She's shooting a Mossberg Bantam 20ga and is pretty good with it. Might be a gun we share or she can use for skeet. She's pretty tall (she's 5'9" already  and looks her mom straight in the eyes) and the Stock on the Condor was just a little long on her.....for now. I roll my own loads (so does my daughter) so a soft shooting load is pretty much what I shoot now. I just like the idea of a matched set.

These are going to be working guns. In addition to the clays sports, we like to hunt, so I'm not going to cry when earn their character marks out in the woods and fields.

Why not buy one, if you like it, buy the other?

Because Mrs Scout said I could spend $800 of my bonus on guns. It's a use or lose situation. ;) Besides I liked them both. I'm a sap/sucker for SxS's and both the Condor and Uplander fit reeeeeaaaaalllllllyyyyyy well. I view it as getting bascially three guns. 12ga and 20ga O/U and a 12ga SxS. I was just looking to get a SxS (or two :D ) when I saw the Condor Combo.

Well, with a shotgun, feel is everything. If it fits right and feels right, then it's hard to say no to it!

I still think that a 26" 12 Gauge will serve as well as the Combo, but if it's on sale or something, go for it. But your daughter can shoot 7/8 oz 12 Gauge loads in a slightly heavier gun and they'll kick no more than 7/8 oz 20 Gauge loads in the lighter one. Then you might be able to finagle a THIRD gun out of the deal!:)
