When you find out, let me know..
Well looks like someone else has stepped up to spread
the malarkey. A former mayor of a Indiana city no less..
http://www.fortwayne.com/mld/newssentinel/14498945.htm

Former Mayor Paul Helmke will become the next president of one the country’s most prominent anti-gun groups, making him a Republican advocate for what is typically seen as a Democratic stance.

The Brady Center has made $1.8 million in donations to candidates since 1980, with most of the money gong to Democrats. Helmke, however, received a $2,000 donation for his campaign against Souder.

Bad news from the perspective that it indicates the Bradys realize that they can't achieve their goals by supporting only Democrats and are committing to influencing Republican policy on the issue.

Indiana conservatives have known Helmke to be a RINO for years. This is nothing more than his coming out of the closet politically and showing all the world his true colors in regards to his viewpoints. :barf:

FWIW,

There are plenty of "Republican" politicians out there who are inspired by Marxist Socialist ideology. Apparently, this wannabee tyrant is one of them.

I wonder how many "no thank you's" they got before they found this guy?

Based on his background he's not exactly a high profile spokesperson, is he?

I'm surpirsed they didn't get someone from Daley or Bloomberg's administration with a proven track record for gun grabbing.

If I remember right Mrs. B has claimed to be a lifelong R. This is America. The party designation really means very littler. What's important is the indivudals stance.

PAUL HELMKE!?! ***????

I don't think Helmke has ever given the slightest bit of thought to gun control, either for or against. Why on earth would the Brady Bunch hire him? Even if he wasn't an incompetent dunce with no future in politics? Oh well...

I think this is great news. Fort Wayne rids itself of a bumbling dolt, and the Brady Bunch installs a bumbling dolt as their new president. It's a win-win situation! :D

I must say that until I read this thread, I had never, ever in my life, actually heard of this guy...........And I try to keep up with politics, especially as it relates to RKBA.

hillbilly

And I'm sure their choice of president with an R next to his name was calculated on their part.

"See? Even Republicans support gun control."

Great.

For crying out loud, vote Libertarian.

>"See? Even Republicans support gun control."

And you don't even have to say that with any sarcasm
because it is true.

The NRA sent out an email on this. Among other comments, Helmke had always received an "F" on firearms.

In the Republican primary, Helmke lost in a "landslide", per the NRA, to Mark Souder, a pro-gun-rights type.

If he's who I recall, excellent. Most excellent. Glad to see him take the job.

I think he's the twit who endorsed Daylight Savings Time for Indiana because, "most crime happens in the hours of darkness."

Yes, that was the quote.

:scrutiny:

Couldn't ask for a dumber opponent.

Unlike many pro-gun advocates it seems that the Brady Bunch is bi-partisan in their efforts. They dont care what party runs the show so long as the individuals agree to strip people of their rights. Maybe we should take a little lesson from that?

They also milk their PR. When someone decides not to give NRA members a 5% discount, it is a "Stunning setback for the powerful gun lobby." When the AWB expired it was a "Temporary problem on the road to reasonable gun control."

And as I've said many times, they demand extreme and often ludicrous measures, then "compromise" by only taking 10% of what we have. Piecemeal surrender is not compromise.

We should be demanding the right to equip cars with machine guns and claymores, tactical nukes for home defense and artillery and tank main guns for "recreational" use.

Then we can "compromise" and just get silencers off the Class III list. After all, it's only reasonable to be quiet and polite at the local range.

Then we demand private rocket launching satellites and sharks with lasers on their foreheads and "compromise" for new full autos...

There seems to be a great many RINO's out there these days. The Republican party is proving to not be the bastion of conservatism and liberatarianism some would like it to be or thought it was.
