I've read this book 5 or 6 times. Who does Allen Kane kill in the doublewide trailer on page 849-850. It doesn't really say, and I can't make the inference to who it might be.

It is the female judge that signed all the blank warrants for the 
BATF. (You are correct, the book does not state that directly, but that is the only infrence I can draw.)

I thought of that, or maybe Sarah Brady. But it says doublewide, and that is what threw me for a loop. I don't see a federal judge or Brady living in a trailer.

The doublewide thing threw me too, but I'd heard that the author said it was Janet Reno's analogue in that universe.

The clues are transparently obvious, and intended to be so by the author. It's Janet Reno.

Couldn't be. When I cover presidential nomination is my poli sci class, I get to the section where presidents tend to withdraw nominees who have skeletons in their closets, rather than push the nomination. My example is Clinton's first two AG nonimees, both of whom had hired illegal alien baby sitters. "So," I tell my students, "he settled on a woman who had no kids." It always gets a few laughs from knowing students.
