Looking for Info on what year they changed the law on FID cards In Mass. When did they became void. Was that back in 1997? Wasn't the law back in the day that your FID card never expired. Can some please help on this subject? Thanks

'97 sounds about right, give or take a year.
Yes, the FID cards were supposed to be good forever but that changed.

I thought it was 1998...but I could be wrong about that. Have you checked with the Gun Owner's Action League (GOAL)? They usually have good info on their site. And it's run by a couple of lawyers who specialize in MA firearms law. So they seem to know what they're talking about.

October, 1998

The actual expiration date of any given card was a function of the birthday of the holder and expiration was spread out over a couple of years.

In short, if this is news to you, you are really "out of the loop."

I know the whole LTC thing was overhauled in '04 I am not sure if anything changed with the FID at that time.
Tory or GOAL would be your best bet.

Just looking for some info to see how long I had my FID card for before it expired

Try READING it - the expiration date for every license is expressly set forth thereon.

NOTE: As of 2004, license periods increased 50%; from 4 years to 6.
