Children of Men

I saw it awhile back and can't say I found it very interesting. Seemed like sort of a second-rate Blade Runner. Never could figure out what the "good guys" were supposed to stand for.

I thought it was pretty good, I'll probably pick up a used copy at my local Hastings when next time I see it. The only thing I didn't like was the ending, for many reasons, but for those who haven't seen it I won't go into it.

I thought Michael Caine was great, as always he steals the show.

I really liked this movie, personally. Which gun fight are you talking about? I liked all of the action scenes, so I'm not sure if there's a specific moment you're referring to or not.

That and the open range fight scene are my two favorite. I think I might like this one a little more because from I can tell it is continuous. Anyways here is the scene. It is in a different language but doesn't take much away from it. Also if you haven't watched the movie and plan on it you might not want to watch it as it has a spoiler or two.

My favorite part was that they decided after the great gunfight scene, they didn't feel the need to include an ending with the movie.

(I did actually enjoy it, other than that glaring ommision.)

Read the book if you want the proper ending

the best thing about that movie is the many parts that were done in one shot. watch the scene where the car was attacked, and also the scene where hes running through the huge gun battle and you will notice and amazingly long shot with tons of things going on. i cant even begin to imagine how hard that was to choreograph

I should rent a copy of "Children of Men" and give it to 2 columnists at the Minneapolis Star/Tribune newspaper. That paper is so pro "get-all-guns-out-of-private-citizens-hands" that it may as well be written by & blessed by Nancy Pelosi and Teddy Kennedy.
You should have read the articles a week ago about how bad guns are after the Virginia murders.

Great movie, I currently own it.

If you want a thought provoking movie about arms, Lord of War would be a good one to watch.

Lord of War is a great movie, too.

That scene in Children of Men was incredible to watch. I never noticed it was one giant shot. I wonder how many takes that took.

I just watched the you tube clip. Reminded me of "Behind Enemy Lines", or something like that.

That can't have been one long single take. There is blood spattered on the camera lens about 2 minutes in which magically disappears as the scene continues.

I think it is just edited such that it appears to be one long take.

lol I thought the same thing. When the screen turned black at the end, everyone in the theater (it was just about full) sat there for a second as if they were expecting something else to happen.

ingram, care to share the actual ending for those of us who are wary of spending the time to read it?

Wrong and right.

That last scene was filmed ONCE, What happened is they had that location for about 14 days(if i remember right) it took them 12 days to set up. They did one or two trys but they Failed. Timing and mess ups. On the last day they filmed it perfect. Except for one spot. An extra turned the wrong way and splashed the camera with her "blood". And sense this was all one shot they could not wipe it off. The Director liked it. Thou not at first(in fact he yelled cut when it happened but no one heard him), he took it as a mess up. But becuase he was going for a real life feel, anything can happen ended up liking it. But he thought it got to be to much after awhile. So he had a FX person come in and remove the blood from the shot one frame at a time. The FX person i think hates the Director now.
