Here's an interesting one: I like pictures of famous historical figures with guns, and I've been trying for a while to find a picture of Harriet Tubman with her revolver, which she famously used to motivate would-be fugitive slaves who experienced a sudden change of heart while under her charge. (Pragmatism aside, Tubman's own brothers abandoned her mid-escape to return to their plantation when she made her own break for it, and the memory of that probably rankled.) Sarah Hopkins Bradford, who wrote Tubman's biography based on Tubman's own verbal account, stated that Tubman acquired the revolver shortly after escaping slavery, but annoyingly made no mention of how she got it or from whom, let alone the make and model.
Well, I didn't find a picture of her revolver, but the frontispiece of the first edition of Bradford's 1869 book features an engraving of Tubman posing with a rifle. The picture's attached -- what's your bet? Looks to me like it could be a Model 1803, but I'm not very good at this sort of thing.
