Good pocket carry revolver?

Good luck in that search. Maybe you can find a used S&W Airweight for around that price. Maybe a Taurus with a shrouded hammer.

I think you will have to be very deligent and very patient my friend. Maybe a Charter Arms , Rossi, or maybe even Taurus from someone really needs quick money (be careful with these!). If you are willing to go up to $300.00 max you can probaly find a legitimate deal at a gun show.

Tack on another $150.00 and patiently search for a 642...

I've had several pocket revolvers... I find the Colts and Rugers a little too big for pocket carry. For the least amount of money, I'd get a mechanically perfect, used Smith & Wesson Model 36 or 37. Both have a 5-shot capacity and a blue finish. Model 36 is all steel and empty weight is about 19 ozs. Model 37 is steel with alloy cylinder and empty weight is about 12 1/2 ozs. Next get yourself a Mika pocket holster. The holster will run about $20 delivered, I think. You should be able to find a 36 or 37 that is in perfect working condition for $200, I think. (I would not buy a Taurus or Rossi or Charter Arms or etc. revolver.)

If you look around you might be able to find a stainless Charter Arms Undercover for that price, I paid $200 for mine. I carry it as a BUG in a body armor holster and it's a great gun.

Local stores carry S&W's best-seller, the #642, for $399 + s/t - pretty much the same nationwide. It is a bargain - and in my pants, inside a Mikas pocket holster, nearly wherever I go. It's an Airweight - SS barrel & cylinder and Al alloy frame. I have seen them for $285-$315 used. New, you'll have a lifetime warranty, too - with a pre-paid shipping label at an 800 number. $200 is a tough order...

If you want a gun for the ages, then there is practically nothing better than a stainless steel Smith and Wesson mod 642. Think of it as an investment; it will cost you more than double than what your budget is but you'll NEVER have to buy another gun.

On the other hand, you can probably get a blued Charter undercover for just over $200 if you look diligently. It will not have the fit or finish of the Smith but will adequately do the job. Will it last a lifetime? Dunno.....

In that price range you will have to settle for something like a Taurus 85 or Rossi revolver probably in blued steel.

Save some more money and pick up a S&W 642.

I agree with the above. Spend the additional cash and get a once-in-a-lifetime investment. The old Chief Special or Mod 60 will serve you well forever. Taurus made a S&W 60 knock-off that was fantastic too. Never worry about putting out a little extra cash for quality. We are talking about personal safety here, not cutting corners with bargains...

$200 makes it a tough search. Stick with a Ruger or S&W and stay away from other makes...You usually get what you pay for.
I carry a Ruger DAO SP101 in a Mika pockect holster daily. Some say it's too heavy but it doesn't bother me. However, unless you are real lucky, you won't find one for $200 or under.
If your use is SD, save some more $ and get a quality revolver...After all, your life may depend on it.

Have you placed a revolver in your pocket yet? I have a beautiful like new Model 60 snub nose but when placed in my front pocket it looks like I have a tennis ball in there, way to thick in my opinion. A SS gun is what I would want for pocket carry, have you considered a semi auto? I am a big fan of the NAA Guardians, you can pick them up for around $300 used, and Corbon's hot 380 loads are getting close to the 38 special and in a gun that disappears in the front pocket. You can get a used Keltec P3AT for close to $200 but I myself am not a fan of these guns, if you want one make sure you are sure it functions properly before buying it. If you must have a revolver I highly recommend saving another $150 and get a S&W.

I think you have to go up to $300 at least, quite honestly. If you can get in that range you can get something workable. I found a Colt Detective Special for a little over three bills, and there are plenty of steel J frames around for that price.

Why stainless, though? With a good pocket holster you don't need to worry much about rust.

My occasional pocket carry revolver is a NAA Black Widow in .22 magnum.
I paid $200 for it, used. It's up to you whether you would feel that caliber is adequate. The other 90% of the time I carry a P3AT.

I carry & recommend a S&W 642/442.

I second glockman19: Pocket carry = S&W 642/442. Get thee to a gun show...find an older model and you will never regret it.

Smith & Wesson 642/442 or Taurus equivalent (if you can up your top $$$ range); Charter Arms internal hammered snubby (if you can't)...the Charter Arms version isn't as resilient, but fits the bill if you don't shoot alot of rounds thru it

A bit above your price range, but I saw a 642-2 at the local pawn a few weeks ago for $300. Ida bought it...but I'm not a big fan of zits.

I purchased a mid-seventies Charter Arms Undercover for $175? OTD. It carries and shoots nicely. Don't know about the later models though.

This is a pocket revolver it sells for $200 weighs less than 8oz including holster which by the way holds five extra rounds of 22wmr.Draws easily and is totally concealed.

It'll not be an easy search to find a stainless snubby for less than $200, but it can be done. I picked up an Interarms Rossi model 88 the other week for about $180. Not a bad shooter so far, but I've only put 60 shots through it so far.

I don't know too much about revolvers, but I'd like something stainless for under $200.

I'd advise you to double your price requirement and get a S&W 642 or a 442. S&W has a great Warranty Department and they are quick about fixing guns and getting them back to the owner. The same can't be said of less exspensive Revolver Manufacturers.

Just remember, you usually get what you pay for.

A S&W M638 IMO... Why does everyone mention the M642 but forget about the M638?

I think you'll find stainless snubbies are too heavy for pocket carry....I did.
I carry a Taurus 85 Multi-Alloy (occasionally called an Ultra Lite) which has a titanium cylinder and barrel shroud andan aluminum frame. I normally carry in a Mikas pocket holster (same one shown in ArchAngelCD's lower picture).

Pocket carry with a revolver works better if you wear loose (not gangbanger style) jeans or trousers. Pleated trousers work better then plain front.
