Helluva book. Don't think the movie will do it justice like any book to movie conversion but I'll watch it anyway.

Thats a remake of "The Omega Man" with Charleston Heston. I dont think theyre zombies but more of Nuclear fallout Vampires.

In the movie they seem to be humans mutated by a virus into blood thirsty killers that only come out in the dark.

Close enough. ;)

Seems this is the 3rd movie based on the book. At least they kept the original title this time around.

Yea after reading the description its defenitly a remake of omega man. Should be pretty cool with modern special effects.
I love watching movies like this, with the world and society destroyed, watching how people adapt etc.

They are however making a movie of world war Z, which should be damn awesome if I may say so. The book was incredible.

Hrmmm, I just started writing a zombie story (inspired by those I've seen on here) and it was going to be about zombies who could only come out at night. Something about the virus being allergic to Vit. D or something. Now people will think I'm copying this...crap.

If they're REAL zombies and not just infected people, they won't.

Maybe they're doing it differently in the remake, but in "Omega Man", they were just infected humans who couldn't stand the sunlight. The reason they were against the protagonist was that they were led by a charismatic cult leader who was against the old technology.

It's a remake of a remake of a movie based off a book. :neener:

The book "I Am Legend" by Richard Matheson came out in 1954.

The movie "The Last Man On Earth" staring Vincent Price came out in 1964 and was based on the book.

The movie "Omega Man" staring Charlton Heston came out in 1971 and was loosely based on the book.

The movie "I Am Legend" staring Will Smith is coming on in Dec-2007 and is based on the book and elements from both of the previous movies.

World War Z

The SHFT zombie movie y'all need to keep an eye out for is "World War Z".

"World War Z. An Oral History of the Zombie War" is a book by Max Brooks and is the follow up to his previous book "Zombie Survival Guide".

Plan B Entertainment bought the rights to make the movie and with the screenplay written by Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski. It's currently in the pre-production stages, so it should come out in about 1-2 years.

Thank you for the information.
I've read "I Am Legend" and have "Omega Man," but did not know of "The Last Man on Earth."
I definitely want to see "World War Z" when it comes out.

My wife saw the promo to this one and before I could say anything she started rolling her eyes and said "I guess you'll be dragging me to see that."

Also... Romero is filming "The Diaries" as we speak. It's out in 2008 according to the boards I've read. THAT will be great!

How about a zombie movie were the zombies are actually able to think a little more then just walk and eat other non zombies, and only die when shot in the head by the main good guys in the film. Now that would be interesting haha

Now, to be absolutely politically correct, you need a horror story/movie about a group of peaceful zombies being hunted by merciless humans armed to the teeth ;)

Umm.... SPOILER ALERT... DO NOT READ FURTHER IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW.

"I am Legend" is pretty much exactly that. In the end it's the story of how the "new humans" are living in terror of the remaining "old human" who is capable of moving freely in the daytime, who is hunting "new humans" and who has basically come to be their "boogyman".

I take it you haven't seen "Land of the Dead"?

I've never been able to finish it--the whole "poor maligned zombie victims overthrow evil capitalist society" angle was just too much for me...

The interesting part about World War Z is the beginning 1/3rd where the zombie disease is just a disease. It shows how if any disease from Bird Flu II to whatever, the pressure to quarenteen will just cause people to flow across the borders. People who are already willing to move illegal aliens across any border (that's not just a US/Mexico thing) will be more than happy to take money and transport people possibly infected or not.

To me, that's the scary part. Not shambling dead, but the fact that if disease X pops up somewhere, and goes ripping through the population in an isolated corner of the world, it will be everywhere very very quickly.
