I recently purchased a used Kel-Tec P-11 from Cabelas for 239.99. I've never owned a Kel-Tec before. I took it down to clean it and it didn't look like it had been fired at all. Tested it with snap caps, and besides the heavy trigger pull, seemed like a decent ccw.

Now for the problem. I took it to the range on Friday, and put 5 Hydra-shoks in the mag. I racked the slide and the first round only made it halfway out of the mag before it wedged into the feed ramp. Tried again, same thing. Bummer.

Tried with three other brands of premium jhp and same thing.

Is Cabelas "100% No Questions Asked Return Policy On 100% Of Our Merchandise" really just that? If so, I've still got the receipt and don't want this gun.

The little kel-tecs are designed for jacked round nose. Don't count on 'em working with hollow points. Besides, something that small, and that close, you want penetration. Try it with different rounds.

Makes one wonder why the original owner's' traded it in. I've often wondered about that when buy a used gun. I find it very hard to part with one once I've bought it. The exception to this were 2 Bersa's that had continual FTF issues. Then again, somebody probably ended up buying them used. At least new has factory warranty. In answer to your question, I really don't know how they'll handle it. Keep us/me posted as this may encourage (or discourage) me from buying at Cabelas.

Does Cabela's guarantee cover used firearms?

If it doesn't, do call Kel-Tec to explain the problem and ask for service. I've found Kel-Tec customer service to be accommodating. They seem to stand behind their products.

Either way, I'd also be interested in knowing how this story turns out.

Mine feeds 147 Golden Sabers just fine. Would advise you to check to make sure both recoil springs are installed, and always slingshot the slide to load. I went with the heaviest Wolff springset for more positive feeding and only use heavy bullets in it.

Mine will run 115's just fine but will shortstroke 90's with the heavy springs.

They also like grease on the rails. You DID clean and lube before shooting it, right? Many KT's won't run out of the box due to the preservatives applied at the factory. Don't give up on the P-11! It is a great carry and will run fine.

The Cabela's by me in MN has a 30 day, "if you don't like it the way it performs or it has a problem you can take it back". If you continue to have problems I would take it back.

The recoil springs are both in there and I don't see how they could get any heavier. I also cleaned it thoroughly.

The problem isn't operator error; it's the small vertical wall separating the feed ramp and chamber.

The gun's a compromise in and of itself, I don't really feel like compromising any further and only using FMJ. I'm also not interested in doing the polishing they should have done at the factory.

If it was a 1911 that needed a little tuning, but would run forever afterwards, I MIGHT feel differently; but the 6000 round lifespan the KT website states furthers my want to be rid of it.

That's what I wanted to hear. I'll try to take it back today and let everyone know what happens.

Good Luck,

The Cabela's here in Illinois made me sign a statement that I understood I was buying a used gun and that it had no warranty.

Mission accomplished! I was in and out with my with a full return in less than 30 minutes, no questions asked.

Yeah Cabelas is great, they took our return of a disfunctional trap launcher even when we did not have a receipt.
