Hello all! I am a St. Louis resident and long time shooter, but of late haven't practiced enough due to time, and lack of a place or people to shoot with. I am a social person and enjoy such things better with other people, so...
Any other Missouri (or east side) people out there want to get together and go shootin'? Just thought I'd put it out there. I am open as to where or when, or what kind of shooting. Any ideas?

What part of St. Louis are you in???

When you do shoot, where do you normally go???

I'm close to hwy 270 and unfortunately don't get to shoot enough... When I do, I spend as much time on the road as I do at the range as I don't know of any ones real close...

Two of my long time friends and I usually shoot at the following in order of Frequency:

Reifschnieder (non manned out in/by Warrenton MO.)

Logan (non manned out in/by Troy/Silex MO.)

Bush Wildlife (Manned, no double taps or rapid fire, out off 94 in St. Charles)

Indoor Pistol Range (Forgot the name, down in City off Manchester and 44 I think)

We are looking for a Gun Club to join that has longer ranges... Something up to say 300 Yards...

This summer we plan to try and get out a lot more...

Hey that place looks pretty cool...

I wish they had some longer shots though... Their longest is 100 yards, I'd like atleast 300, but Its still a nice looking place...

Good chances I'm going to join... Its closer than a few others I was looking at...

Are you a member??? If you are, the only questions I have are....

I did not see hours of operation; Since its a gated, club type setup, I assume you get a key and come and go as you like as long as you follow all the range/club rules...

Can you bring a guest or two???

If I can get wife approval, I may go down there tommorow morn... Looks like you can only sign up on Satuarday morns... My only hold up is sick kid duty as the wifes workin Sat....

Thanks for the info though...

Smullen, the indoor range off Manchester is Bullseye. http://www.bullseyestl.com/
It's a pretty nice place, and well ventilated. I like it.
Now I shoot over in IL at the Casyville Gun Club. Somebody shoot me a PM if you want to head out there sometime when it warms up and thaws out. Rifle ranges go to 200 yards.

I used to be a member there when they were on 159, then they moved...

I really liked it, but my membership was short lived, I only got to use it for like 4 months, then the range closed...

Then my membership expired...

I tried to keep it active, but I could never get in contact with anyone...

Now they are back open, but they moved a lot further down 64...

I hear they are having legal troubles again.... I think I read some crap about it on their web page...

Is Randy Seeper still one of the main guys???

Randy is the president, actually, and he's the guy to talk to if you want to join.

Two things to know: The website is really out of date, and it's hard to get ahold of anybody. The answering machine at the range is checked...whenever,if at all. At least that's the impression I get. But I think the range is there to stay. The opposition is having a hard time making any kind of case worth taking to court. The county and the USAF itself all gave the ok to build.

Glockfan,I don't know if you know that the range has moved from Collinsville. The new location is off 161,almost centered between Route 4 and Route 50. It's on Lake Road,if you care to Google it. It's members only, but we can bring guests.

I was told they have intros for new members and I headed down there a while back. Can't afford the membership on a student's budget, but it looked real nice, and they're trying to get the money to get more land for buffer, and to make some longer ranges.

smullen,

I can't really tell you much about Arnold because I haven't been in that part of the world for ten years. I used to shoot a lot of USPSA and steel matches there and it was a great facility. I also used to shoot at Caseyville when it was on 159.

Arnold is open at 8:30 am for shooting till dark. They do issue keys so you can come and go as you please. while the longest range is only 100 yrds they more than make up for it by offering tons of different types of shooting sports. IDPA, IPSC, Steel, Cowboy, CMP, Bullseye. PLus they have trap and skeet ranges available, 4 "pits" so you can shoot by yourself. A bunch of standard rifle range positions. They have an awesome youth trap team that travels and competes.

Guest policy is immediate family bring no problem. Any kids can be brought as many times as you want. Your kids, the neighbor's don't matter. Non family guest can come a few times then would have to join or not join.

Highly recommend it

Yea, I'm pretty sure I'm joining Arnold...

I was going to go down there this past Saturday and try and join, but my daughter was sick and the wife didn't want me to leave her home alone... So I didn't get to go...

I'm going to do my best to get there this Saturday...

Thanks guys for all the info on the ranges...

If I get down there, I'll post up about it...

Wow, I had given up on this thread, and now it is alive!

Hi guys! Smullen, I am in Rock hill, just off the (now useless) Highway 40

I am primarily a pistol shooter, but I also need some practice with my rifles, (.223 and 7.62x54r)

I have been to Bullseye on Manchester before. Its ok

I just recently tried out the Top Gun range down in Imperial and was impressed. Clean, friendly and well stocked store and range.

I have seen the Arnold gun club's website, but never been there.

Good to see other area shooters on here!

Update.

Well I joined the Arnold Rifle and Pistol Club today...

G23, Thanks for the tip...

This place seems pretty cool... All the board members and shooters seemed like a real good bunch of folks...

I felt welcome from the time I came in the gate and asked a shooter for directions to the office till the time I left...

After I was directed into the office, when I walked in I was greeted and welcomed and asked if they could do anything for me, I said I would like to see about joining the range/club...

They told me about the range then the club president took me on about a 45 min tour... He showed me all the different shooting areas and described the different events, projects going on and other details...

Told me about the differet shooting orgs that have activities there, the clubhouse, bathrooms, tool sheds, etc...

It was really a lot of info...

After the tour we went back in the office and I signed up and chatted with the guys in there for a bit...

Like I said above, I really felt welcome... I had a great time and didn't even get too shoot...

They gave me my badge and key and told me to come back shoot often and stop by and B.S. sometime...

I can't wait to get to go back...

Anyone know what shooting CMP is???

***Edit*** Just found it....

C.M.P.
Civillian Marksmanship Program

Looked fun at 1st, I breifly saw they had rifle comps and ARs are allowed (Sweet!!!!), but if its a flattop (M4A3) the top carry rail has to be on and no optics and no gadget rails on the front handguard tube... Mine has the carry handle removed with an EOtech sight and a rails on the front tube... :)

Still looks fun...
