Now that I'm getting my Model 10 I'll need another pistol case so I'm looking for recommendations on them. Not terribly impressed with what the local sporting goods places have for the price. All some degree of plastic or general "chinsiness".

Thinking maybe a multiple pistol case so I can keep the 1911, Model 10, and the .22 pistol in the same case.

What do you guys use?

I usually just carry them in the pockets of my range bag or just carry them in one of my tac bags. Recently a local dealer was tossing into the discount bin a bunch of S&W blue plastic cases and I snatched up about half a dozen of them for stackable storage.

Are you looking for a range bag or a hard case for display? For storage?

Tommysgunpack.com is having a 1 day sale - 60% off - today. I just ordered one of their 2 gun range bags for $8! Enter coupon TODAY ONLY at checkout.

Hard case for storage and travel to the range. Something that passes the "won't have the snaps break after a year" and "won't bust open and spill several hundred dollars worth of pistols onto the ground if dropped" test.

I use a pelican 1490...

A bit on the spendy side but I've had it for a while and normally use it for a laptop/briefcase. It is only a gun case on range days. I got mine with the laptop tray/organizer which I pull and replace with foam for use as a pistol case.

I can carry 4-5 standard handguns in it without much trouble and could probably increase that if I got creative.

I use DOSKOCIL cases made in Arlington, Texas...They are single hand gun cases and quite durable...And with a bit of engineering can be locked if needed.

A suggestion - go to Lowe's and find the tool bag section. they sell an alluminum briefcase style case that has three layers of foam, one of which is pre-scored, dividers and tool pockets under the foam in the lid. I think cost is something like $25-$30 or so.

This was about half the cost of the same case which I saw at a gun store. They are easily configured. I sectioned and divided one so it held two bricks of .22 lr and two Browning Buckmarks with six mags and cleaning gear in the lid tool storage area.

I wasn't particularly impressed with some of the hard cases on the market.....so I made my own. Started with "Zero Haliburton" aluminum cases, made double decker inserts from "ethafoam" (same material used for archery targets). Ethafoam will not hold moisture or compress like softer foams. Traced around the firearms and accessories, then used a drill press with a router bit to remove material. Guns are well protected and secure. Lift out top layer to get access to lower level. Guns are left in cases and stored in the safe....no problems in over 20 years.

I have one of those plastic panel with metal corner cases, and it has held up pretty well. My complaint is not with exterior: the foam inside is starting to break down after about 2 years of use. Excess oil from the guns isn't helping and I probably shouldn't be storing guns in there long term (I know, not supposed too ).

Cabelas "Bulletproof" Pistol Cases(s)
Made of marine quality aluminum with a polished
finish, the 4 corners are cut at a 45 degree angle and then
a rectangular piece is heavily welded into place so if an ape
in luggage or klutz drops/throws it it won't get a ding. It has
a rubber o-ring like trough in the bottom half that matches up
with the top lid to make it dustproof and water resistant. The
H.D. hasps are made of stainless steel and clamp securely,
aith a steel rod that goes through them both and I got Cabelas sturdy brass lock to secure it. 18" x 14" x 4" It holds two pistols - an
example is one of my two cases holds a S&W 625 5" Bbl. as well as
a S&W 617 6" Bbl. securely they don't shift around. I have 5 S&Ws
so 4 stay locked up and one is the active HD/SD handgun.
They are airline travel approved. $ 120 for the case $12 for the
brass lock.

FWIW - I also bought the Rifle case that has the same
construction, there are three different sized ones, all $ 170
each, when I want to take more than two handguns to the range
I can take my Marlin 1894 out of the case that is
44" x 14" x 4" - it's advertised for the T/C Encore or the
AR-15 but I know I could get two 1894s with the straight grip
stock - anyway it's good to take it to the range for more
than two handguns - as it holds my Thompson Center G2
Contender which doesn't fit in the pistol case.

The pistol case for a range day makes for a great way to carry
the pistols, and I have a day pack for all the other ammo and gear.

I keep the handguns in the Cabelas cases, and the all the accessories
paperwork, and any stock parts that have been swapped and replaced
with aftermarket parts are placed in the respective box.
