I heard that they have been used in crimes 80 times in the last five years. Without them the criminals will be completely powerless. I say it is time we moved on to cricket bats.

Whew. Now that my fears of being attacked with a samurai sword the second I get off the plane in London are now obsolete, I can finally book that family vacation.

One quick question though, do I need to leave my hooded sweatshirts here in the US of A?:neener:

Hey give the British law makers a break. They're doing a great job for us.

Think about it. They ban everything the way the antis here in America want to do and we can point to England and say, see how well that works.

This is one American who fully supports those idiots in Parliament who think that taking away the civil rights of law abiding citizens is the way to go. It gives us an Orwellian example to point to when making our arguments.

Yeah baby, I loved "A Clockwork Orange".

Bummer for the law abiding citizens over there though.

I understand they're making real progress banning knives, but don't the criminals just switch to spoons? I think you need to get the spoons off the street.

If it saves one child, it will be worth it.

Be Sharp

Be one of the million who pledges not to carry a knife!

Bet it took them half the night and several pints to think up that clever slogan.

What dweebs.

Not safe until the spoons are banned too. They can kill you if Kevin Bacon stabs you in the neck with one.

Saw it in the movies so I know it must be so. :D.

There's an organization in place called the NSA (National Silverware Association) and they're defending the rights of all Brits to keep and bear such items. The antis in Parliament are working on placing greater restrictions on eating utensiles made of plastic and that are black in color.

are they going to outlaw boxing? cause soon they're gonna run out of inantimate objects and you know in most violient attacks the crimminal uses his fist.....

My wife just pointed out that that site gives the smart criminals the names of those walking around unarmed.

Hmmm... Victims not anonymous!

If I were a hacker I bet I could get in and get the actual names of the pledge people, they even ask for your mobile phone number.

I pledged by the way. My graffiti says "I won't carry a knife to a gun fight!"

I thought it was appropriate, but I bet they take it down.

ntk4a2 is the number if anyone is interested.

First you get rid of the guns:

Then you can start on the pointy sticks:

so are "ninja swords":D
if I had the cash would buy a shed load and hand them out to passers by outside no 10 to show case the shear waste of time this bill is.
Our only hope the sort of idiot who thinks a cheap samurai sword is the way to resolve a problem is too stupid to look for another type of edged weapon so it may work:uhoh:

The fun part is that highly skilled swordsmen of yore like Musashi, Yagyu Munenori and Tesshu got to the point where they no longer carried metal swords. It was just as easy for them to kill with a wooden sword and wooden swords didn't require as much maintenance as metal swords. Next will be a ban on pieces of wood carved to simulate swords.

When I was stationed in Belgium I went to several martial arts tournaments on the continent. The fellows from the UK were required to register with the government. That was in the '80s, so I have no idea what the requirements are now. Are they tightening registration requirements for martial artists up too, I wonder?

no there is a national martial arts licence its not a goverment thing more run by an association to do with insurance and an attempt to keep nutters from buying nunchcuks etc

I stand corrected. I was under the impression it was a government mandated registry, but then how does one go about deciding what is a martial art that requires registration and what is not?

If they are banning samuri swords, then you know that Ninja swords will be next, closely followed by ......... phone cord! Sorry I couldn't resist.:D

Why does that make sense?

Oh well when people start to get banned maybe everyone will wake-up.
