anyone use their products?looking at the 4 round aluminum side saddle for benneli m-1,light clamps, etc.

Darn fine stuff and very well built, it will hold up to most of the rough abuse far better than the plastic ones and there are no small screws to come loose and have your extra shells fall to the ground.

I've found that the Mesa Tactical 4-round shotshell holder on the Benelli M1 is a match made in heaven.

Some tips.

  1. It comes with a gasket-like backing that goes between the holder and the shotgun. If you install it, the receiver finish won't be marred. Do install it. There's no downside. No extra shims needed.
  2. Tighten the acorn nut (which fits on the mounting screw) just to the point at which the screw is flush with the nut. That's exactly the right amount of tightness. If you tighten it further the screw will protrude and the receiver might be compressed too much.
  3. Use Blue Loctite on the end of the mounting screw where it enters the acorn nut. An easy way to do it is after you push the mounting screw through the receiver. Get two pieces of paper towel: one dry, the other slightly damp. Push the dry piece over the mounting screw so the toweling acts as a mask to prevent excess Loctite from entering the receiver. Then put one small drop of Loctite on the screw tip and one small drop into the acorn nut. Screw the acorn nut onto the mounting screw (don't forget to put the washer under the nut) and turn it down until its top meets the top of the screw. Just before then, pull the dry paper towel straight out so it mops up some of the excess Loctite. Right after you complete turning down the acorn nut, wipe off any remaining excess Loctite with the slightly damp towel and the dry towel. The job should be beautiful and secure.
  4. There's a line in the instruction sheet that tells you not to store shells in the holder. Ignore that warning. I checked with Mesa Tactical a while back and was told that it referred to an earlier form of the material used to secure the shells. It no longer applies. You can store shells in the holder indefinitely. I do.
