I recently purchased a Springfield Armory XD 40 S&W. I am going crazy because I cannot figure what the S&W stands for at the end of the description. It's obviously not Smith & Wesson but I would really like to figure it out. If someone could please save me from going crazy, I would appreciate it.

Thanks for any help.

Actually I can't imagine it stands for anything but Smith and Wesson, referring to the designation for the caliber it's chambered in.

garycooley22 - Have you shot it yet ? Do you like it ?

I got mine new last November & I'm very pleased with mine. I've got 400 rounds of Blazer Brass shot through mine with zero problems. Simple to field strip for cleaning. It lives in the nightstand drawer as it is too big & heavy to conceal.

I'm thinking about getting a Beretta PX4 Storm SC for CCW.

Thank You everyone for you replies. I greatly appreciate you speedy responses. Also, ShotGunJoe, I have not shot mine yet. I bought it yesterday brand new and I live within city limits and dont want to pay shooting range fees. My family live in the country and I will be shooting it this weekend. My brother has the XD45 ACP Tacticle 5" barrel, I have shot his and really liked it but wanted something smaller so I could conceal it easier.

Thanks Again,

Gary Cooley

XD40sc is my ccw, even in a owb holster it hides pretty well under longer jacket. Add a pinky grip extension and it's a nice package.
