CA assembly passes AB2062

In AB2062, the proponents seek to mandate that all retail handgun ammunition sales would have to be purchased only in a “face to face” transaction. Retail purchasers of handgun ammunition would be registered and fingerprinted at the point of purchase.
I so can't wait until the move to Neveda. This just helps reinforce the feeling. :|

Our sympathies from Free America.

We have really got to vote these morons out of office when they become due.

As noted you may have to vote with your feet.

A few years ago, it was rumored that California was planning on banning guns and setting up concentration camps for former gun owners so they could be "re-educated". Those who did not "convert" would be sent to gas chambers. People thought the idea was ridiculous. Now we begin to wonder if that is not what the CA legislature really plans to do.

anything to keep guns out of South-Central residents, I suppose.

I extend my sympathies to CA residents in general.

Where is the great NRA and their lawyers . Seems they never show up in Ca. Il. NY. NJ .Washington DC and other places. Where Americans are being denied or loosing their rights. But they work real hard in gun free states.

MICHAEL T, I've been a member of TFL and THR since their beginnings. Many people have posted of California anti-gun efforts during these last ten or so years. I've yet to read any sort of substantive "win" for California gun owners. A few delaying actions, yeah, but no real wins.

I figure that for gunowners, the California legislature is a lost cause. Politically, in many other areas of law, California is a lost cause.

Other than local NRA folks, why should the national organization waste its money in a hopeless effort?

Despite a flood of phone calls, letters and e-mails the assembly passed the Ammunition Restriction bill. We have really got to vote these morons out of office when they become due.
The Soap Box didn't work. Next is the Ballot Box. If that doesn't work, there is always the Cartridge Box.

I kinda have to agree with the lost cause/containment.

Where the NRA and the other more outspoken organizations pop up, gun rights get better. It would take alot more than the NRA to reverse the socialism found in the big 5.

They don't want to ban "hand gun" ammo, they want to ban all metalic ammo.

That is the real goal. Think about it, there is not a single cartrage that has not been offered in a hand...

I'm glad CA is a lost cause to some of you... might want to look at some history about laws that pass in CA... they tend to spread.

Arnold is no longer interested in anything but sucking up. He tried once, and a narrow loss deep-sixed him. Not much depth to him, as it turned out.

Except for the Army guys, air force guys, navy guys and marines, and all the guys that used to be in those services all around the bases. and the defense industry guys, and etc

Hmmm. Interesting perspective Art.

Just for the sake of giggles, does anyone know what percentage of the NRA's contributions, membership, etc. originate in CA? I'm curious.

How about this: does anyone know how many new firearms sales occur in CA annually? I'm curious to know to what extent CA is an effort wasted in the eyes of the firearms industry.

Maybe you all are right... maybe CA doesn't matter.

Maybe the firearms industry and everyone's gun rights won't actually be impacted by what happens in the WORLD'S approximately 9th largest economy (America's largest); an entity of 36 million people with a median income of $50k each.

Maybe there are bigger fish for the NRA to fry.

You all sleep tight in the knowledge that you live in free states that REALLY matter.

Keep telling yourselves that.

Big45,
Just say the word, I'm waiting for anyone to stand up and take the fight to Sacramento. Any of you keyboard commandos from other states that like to run your mouths are free to step up. Come on, let's get the revolution started!

Arnie the "stealth" candidate is a worthless RINO!!! The only thing he's interested in is making money for himself. The state is in more debt now then when he took over and in worse shape.

The best solution. Why not just move to CA. If enough pro-gun people move into the state and turn it around. Like some one said CA laws spread. Maybe a bunch of pro-gun laws would spread as well.

CFriesen - Well, the DOJ website lists about 8,000,000 firearm sales in 2004. California sales that year were 315,000. Half of those were handguns.

California sales were 3.9% (make it 4%) of all guns sold in the U.S. California pop. in 2004 was about 7% of the total U.S. pop. so our average is low for overall population. Total sales are still significant if you go by state.

For all of you members out there who expressed support for your brethren in this ever more fascist province of THE USA - much thanks. I write and write and write to my legislators and to the legislators proposing all these terrible bills. I give as much as I can afford to the NRA. They are a great organization. I also write, when prompted, to other legislators in other states to show my support for the rights of my fellow Americans facing similar hostilities.

To Big45 - As a republic, California is a cancer that we all have to live with. We're not going to break off into the ocean. I hope those of us who remain and fight can slow the spread to other states. Sure we're outnumbered and surrounded. Sure everybody hates what's going on here. But demeaning the guys who fight doesn't help anything. You never know what's going to happen. SCOTUS could give us new life with their decision in the Heller case. Arnie could divorce Maria and marry Ann Coulter. MS13 could lobby the assembly to legalize automatic weapons. We could go back to printing ballots in English. Anything could happen.

The important thing is to keep fighting, voting, writing, and maybe marching for our rights

Michael, I see that your profile says:

What I do for the RKBA and other civil liberties:
vote, send a lot or e-mail to Washington DC

Michael, what you do for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms in this country is little more than eat, breathe, and drink fluids.

It's awfully ungrateful of you to criticize how the money spent by me and other NRA members is used. How about holding your complaints until you get off our backs and start lending a hand.

You're curious about those matters but you're not curious enough to get that information yourself. It would be awfully nice if someone else did it for you.

Uh, whoever goes to get him his information ... I'm curious about a cold drink. I'm also curious about how nice it would be with a twist of lime. A sandwich might just hit the spot too. Thanks in advance. But stay close. I might get curious about a little dessert afterwards. :)

So I guess when you say that there are ZERO patriots in this state that's not demeaning?

I wouldn't call it demeaning. Think of it more like reporting.

Just what is it that you're doing that is so effective?

Well staying out of your lovely, albeit communist, state has been working for me lately. As in all my life.

What type of action are you taking that I'm not?

Keeping my zipcode out of the 9xxxx range?
