Anyone else love these pistols and their varients? I wish they were still being made!

I personally think these are some of the best field/trail guns ever made. They are super light weight and flat so they pack/carry easy.

I have a 4" adjustable sight 422 and a 6" fixed sight 422.

If you are thinking about getting a suppressor for a .22 cal handgun they are some of the best. Its almost like they were made to be suppressed. Change out the barrel bushing with a threaded adapter and you are ready to go. The barrel is on the bottom of the slide so the can sits low enough to easily use your sights!

Lets hear what you guys/gals think.

I took my CCW test with a rental 422 because at the time all I had were wheelguns. Very cool little gun and I've wanted one ever since but never found one when I had coin in pocket. I really like the compact models.

I missed out on a 2214 in the used case of my local shop, and I've been kicking myself ever since. I've NEVER seen one for sale around here before or since, and it was one of those situations where I told myself that I'd come back tomorrow when I could actually have cash-in-hand rather than put it on my card, and by the time I got back it was sold.

But yeah - they're very cool.

442: (or some such variant): a must have

For summer and situations where light weight is paramount, the 442 is my first choice. Carries well. Not something I enjoy shooting at the range, though. Even with just .38s in it, there's still too much recoil for me.

Edit: Did not realize the model even existed: looks like my brain took 422 and converted it into 442! ;-)

They are not the most accurate of guns but the light wieght and thin profile make up for this somewhat. I always found it funny they take the mags of the much more expensive S&W model 41.

For those unfamiliar with these fine little pistols, the 422 is on top and the 2214 is on the bottom.

I think is is a great idea that the designers incorporated Model 41 magazines for use in these guns.

How many discontinued pistols fall out of favor because spare parts and magazines are no longer available.
Not the case with these pistols.

Yours seems to have some sort of custom installation of a S&W revolver sight though, interesting.

varoadking has a 422 Target version.
You could get these pistols with fixed or adjustable sights.
I did a few modifications to my guns over the years, adding an adjustable rear sight and shaving the front to hit point of aim-point of impact at exactly 30 meters.
Shaved the triggerguard and added walnuts to both guns too.

The 2214 is one of my most carried pistols, it does everything from plinking to eliminating vermin animals from around the property.

yup, the factory put revolver style sights on their adjustable sight models. To me they are better than millets.

anyways, I have two of them for instructing, their light weight makes it easier for novices to hold them up. One has a red dot sight so I can teach trigger control, then after they figure that out, I switch to the iron sight model to teach sight alignment.

have always meant to pick up a 2206 to have an steel frame model.

Having owned a 422 and later a 2206 many moons ago, I was delighted to find a nice, used six-inch 422 for sale a few months back at a local shop. It's one of the "Field" models as it has the fixed rear sight, but someone along the line upgraded the grips to the wooden ones found on the "Target" model...I'm most appreciative!

The pistol came with only one mag, no box, and no manual. I asked about mags...the salesman was skeptical but took a look anyway...and a found a lovely second mag still in the factory packaging...he let me have it for twenty bucks as I recall, a nice discount from the original $29.95 pricetag the package still bore. I'm glad to see that Model 41 mags are plentiful and compatible with this pistol. I wound up ordering a reprinted manual over EBay.

This pistol has been so much fun. On my last range trip, two of the kiddos went with me and quickly "adopted" the 422 as their hands-down favorite. I'm planning to begin and end my next range session with a few dozen rounds from the 422.

I've been looking for one of the smaller versions, will they take the longer 422/41 magazine and just stick out?

I didn't know the adj sight versions came with a S&W revolver sight, interesting. I rarely see these guns locally and when I do they are fixed sight models.

Great guns!

These are really nice for introducing new shooters.
Light weight, means one does not get fatigued, which leads to missing shots and not having "fun".

Simple, without a bunch of "goop" to distract a new shooter.

Easy as can be to take apart and clean.

One will forget they are toting one, being so light, and flat, while out and about.

I like the 4" 422

The 2214 will take Model 41 magazines and they protrude quite a bit.
The smaller eight shot magazines are the best bet but these are getting harder to find, I bought all six a gun shop had hanging on a rack over in the Quad cities a few years back.

I've been pleased with mine. I bought it used and have to use a spent casing to take it down as the tool didn't come with it. It did come with two 12 round magazines:) and I've added a 10 rounder since.

I've got a 6" 622 with adjustable sights and walnut stocks and absolutely love it. Bought it cheap in '90 or '91, and am still in love with it. I still get offers from buddies who want to buy it.

I've heard folks say they're disappointed with the accuracy, but mine's more accurate than I am. On bags from 25 yards, it's a tackdriver, with all of the holes touching.

Greg,
I have one that looks EXACTLY like yours. I love the 4" adjustable sight 422!

Now I need to find a 2206 and a 2214... :D
