At the range I tried to chamber a round and could not get it to chamber. I got a squib rod and this came out of my barrel. I had just cleaned my 1911 the night before, lubed and assembled. Later that night I ran drills doing tactical reloads with snap caps and several mags.

Anyway, the plastic bullet was probably shot out by the firing pin and it lodged in my barrel. No wonder I couldnt find it. I dont know if this could have been a dangerous situation but it probably could. Close call on the range huh? Im not using snap caps anymore, no need anyway I guess.

Switch to the AZoom aluminum ones. They're simply a full cartridge made of solid aluminum with a rubber bumper in place of the primer. Saves the pin but nothing comes out the front. No chance of an accident if you're not using a real case.

The best ones I have found are those distrubuted by Beretta and Pachmyer. From the appearance, they are manufactured by the same company.

They are solid plastic with a brass head and spring loaded brass primer. They last a lot longer than AZoom. They are also more expensive.

At a minimum, firing a live round through a barrel obstructed with a big lump of fake bullet will bulge the barrel. At the maximum, it can rupture the barrel and wreck the gun and shooter.

Always a good idea to look down the bore -- from the breech end, please -- before firing the first shot.

Oh, and +1 for A-Zoom. One of the only products I've ever used that does exactly what it's supposed to every time.
