Nothing wrong with the Desert Eagle at all. I myself wouldn't be opposed to owning one.

Niche guns are like that. Some people love them, some don’t. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t buy one if it fits your niche. I would love to have a Desert Eagle but there other guns I want first.

anyway if you even think you might like a gun, my advice is save your money (took quite awhile for me to save enough for this one) and just go buy it!

Sorry model, I politely disagree. I like to kick the tires before buying the car.
It works for some and it doesn't work for others.

Why is it that the cats allways have to get in on the gun pics? I cant get a gun pic without the cat being in it.

Only ever tried the .44 Eagle and couldn't agree with you more. My favorite gun. Very comfortable to hold too. I don't see why people complain about it being too big. Would love to try the .50 Eagle though. Only .50 cal pistol I ever shot was the Magnum Research BFR.

Very nice gun; a friend of mine has a an older chromed .44 Mag Desert Eagle and it really is a "blast" to shoot. Great pics too.

You'll have fun, love my old 44. Ignore the fudds who don't see the point in owning something they don't personally want, and well, enjoy your toy ;0

I've been a .45ACP shooter all of my gun-related life. G-21, Taurus Tracker in .45ACP, and a Randall .45. I play bass in a band and have arms and hands strong enough to shoot those all day. So I recently got a .50AE DEP. It is fun to read others' experience with the .50AE DEP. I was very lucky to find one at a "fire sale," as in a friend found a real, bring-back AK47 for sale by a legal supplier, and he needed $1000 ASAP. I bought the pistol, 6" and 10" barrels, four magazines and fitted case. There is a cutout for the 14" .44 mag in the case, but I didn't get one with it: ( I WTB 14" .44 mag barrel.) My near-by mil-surp dealer had some broken boxes of IMI 50AE at $1.00 per round so I bought all of them. Loading the magazines took more out of me than firing them! I figgered I had a method to shoot the pistol, that would save my wrists (not knowing just how hard the recoil would be, yet.) I put on latex examination gloves, ear-plugs, plus muffs, racked the slide to charge one into the chamber, and immediately had a jam. Throat was finished but not polished. I release the slide with a bit more snap, and got no jams after that. Two-handed isosceles hold, leaning against a 4x4 support at the range, 25 yd targets. Nice smooth action, no take-up or creep, then at the same time: a "click" and "WHAMMMO!!" Nice surprise. But I flexed at the elbows, which brought the gun back directly between my eyes. The just-cocked hammer is hard and sharp! On 5 1/4" shoot'n'see I hit 11:00. 2". The recoil process is remarkable. I could feel the bolt try to twist my grip (which is why I wore the latex), turn and come back to the rear. At that point, the first time, I was struck in the forehead by the hammer. I didn't try to control the recoil, and "relaxed" is not a good adjective to use around this piece. Next shots I held on better, took the recoil in the shoulder and was pleasantly surprised: the reaction of the shooter (me) is nothing when compared to the others at the range under the same canopy!! "*** WAS that!?" That's some of the fun of owning a DEP. I shot a total of 28 rds, all in the black (one bullseye.) After one magazine I shifted to one-hand shots using a lot of breath-control. I believe that if a guy can handle a full blown +P in .45 he will have no trouble shooting an Eagle. Just try to be sure there are a few other guys at the range, to get an interest in all the ruckus. Also, it is polite to say "Fire In The Hole" before you let one off. ((I am seriously looking for the 14" .44 barrel.)) I'll buy a brass-catcher before my next excursion.
