Has anyone here had the misfortune to request a refund on a tag due to a medical disabilty/ death in family?

I tore up my knee really bad late August and did not get around to sending in my request and tag until Sept. 1st. Called WFG and the girl on the line said she would run it by her supervisor. Its been over two weeks now and I have a mindset of writing it off.

If anyone could share their experience it would be appreciated.

to answer your question... no i have not had to request a refund.

to help you a little... we are currently in a tremendous boom in wyoming right now, and far more jobs than there are people to fill them. most people, especially in entry level jobs (like the girl you talked to on the phone) have not been on the job very long, so they do not know how to handle out of routine questions. because of the staffing problems, managers are running a million miles per hour in 100 different directions.

my suggestion is to call back, request your refund, get the name of the person you talked to, and stay after her. i have no doubt you will get a refund, or at least a resolution, but you are most definitely going to have take the initiative. further, be prepared for the ol' "she doesn't work here anymore" reply - people are switching jobs really fast.

stay after it. good luck!

On my way to my post-op checkup I stopped by my PO box, and lo and behold an envelope from WG&F! Very personalized letter indeed. Took it to the Doc and he was very impressed and signed off on it immediately. We both agreed this would never be the case for a non-res. in Texas. He has never hunted north of Colorado and said he will look into Wyo.

Meanwhile, I get to keep stitches in the four holes in my knee for another week. Off the leg for a month. And then perhaps I will resume my bipedal ways.

Page 8 section 2 in the non-res. rulebook. They were extremely cordial and wished me the best. No doubt I will play the lotto again this January and have a nice, strong knee next fall! Until then, this hunter dreams of Wapiti....

Yes, you can get a refund. I was issued a NR Left Over Antelope Tag in the draw this summer. In August I had a Aortic Valve failure and needed open heart surgery September 5. I will obviously not be able to hunt October 5.

I called the Wyo G&F department and they asked me to return my license along with a letter asking for a Hunter Disability form. A couple of weeks later I got a package back from them saying that they had received my hunting license and asking that I have my physician certify that I am unable to hunt and include a memo on letterhead or a prescription slip. So far it is a pretty straightforward deal. My Cardiologist is a hunter, so he did not think it was an inconvenience.

The letter I got was from Wyoming Game and Fish 5400 Bishop Blvd. Cheyenne, WY 82006. They were pretty adamant that I get the disability certification form back to them before December 31, 2008.

Hope this helps you.

I just got back from wyoming last weekend! Great week of hunting.

Glad to see you got your letter - I've had some out of the ordinary requests for them over the years and they have always been incredibly helpful

Thanks everyone for the look-see and the replies. I glad that very few answered, actually. I did not intend to cause anyone any mental anguish upon reading my somewhat morbid thread. I was having a dark day I suppose. The sun now shines a little brighter.:)
