Wow, now that is beautiful! Nice pictures you take. Have you had time to fire it yet?

How many bullets per minute can it shoot?

Nice gun. I also have a rifle made by a typewriter company, an Underwood carbine.

Thanks fellers. Haven't shot it yet; just got it yesterday and we have a couple feet of snow on the ground here.

The sling came on the CMP "Special" M1... I believe it's a repro of the 1907 type or whatever. Good sling. Need to learn how to use it better. :)

BTW the front sight on the A3 is quite thin; I imagine for extreme accuracy. I'm surprised by that. Seems like it would be fragile.

My Father used a 03 at Henderson Field on Guadalcanal. I once asked him if he felt the bolt action was a disadvantage ( I used a M14 in Vietnam.) He replied " In a human wave attack you can work that bolt REAL fast."

Most of the front sight hoods are gone but occassionally they can be found. They help with thin front sight for protection and glare. Have heard them referred to as the Marine Corp hood. Very nice rifle. You will really appreciate the balance after shooting it a while. Enjoy! Bill

Man that is a really nice rifle.

I'd understand if you didn't want to answer but what's something like that go for, in general terms?

I paid $600 shipped. You can get them from the CMP for a bit less but I was nervous about the CMP barrels as they have been returned from veteran's organizations and many have fired blanks for years with no cleaning.

But the reports I've read from those who have the CMP guns have been quite positive. I don't think I've read about one with a bad barrel yet, though the descriptions on the CMP site don't give you any hope to get one.

This was from a private seller and the stock has been sanded/refinished. The cartouches are visible but faint, but I didn't care about that; I wanted a shooter and the bore looks mint. We'll see how it goes when I shoot it.

I realize you could get these for $150 not too long ago but times have changed... and I"ve wanted one for a long time. :) So I'm happy.

There is an 03 with a target fired at 100 yds. at our local gun shop. Four of the 5 shots were just under and inch and the other was called. Pretty amazing.
