Ive been looking into Wolf ammo cause its so very cheap. Ive heard some of it is corrosive and will mess a gun up. Is all wolf ammo that way? Does it really hurt anything?

most modern wolf ammo, at least all that i've seen and bought, is non-corrosive. other than being less accurate than the permium ammo, it shouldn't do your gun any harm. not to mention that it is a good idea to clean your gun every now and again anways...

Wolf ammo?

Not on a bet! I think ths Russians are pissed off with us and this is how they're getting even!

OMG wolf ammo stole my car and ran off with my girlfriend.

i think its in California selling drugs and ruining my credit

wolfs fine for plinking, suck it up and clean your rifle afterwards.

if it doesn't feed/extract from your rifle thats YOUR RIFLES fault. not the ammo ;)

I have to agree with Hoppy590, I tried to run wolf through my M&P and it ran like crap. After the rifle was broken in and well oiled it has run the wolf flawlessly. I do not have the funds to run high dollar ammo through my rifle....I just clean it more often :D

No, it's not corrosive.

The older design, the lacquer coated, would leave behind quite a mess. The new polymer coated does not.

I've run thousands of rounds of it in .223, .308 and x39.

It's not accurate, it smells horrible, sometimes it fails to fire (rare).

Some guns will run it some won't, but you're not likely to hurt anything shooting it.

how about Fiocchi. Its much better ammo im sure but dont know much about them

My experience with Fiocchi has been bad, I've seen the primers to be VERY hard and had tons of failures to fire. I stopped buying it.

i bought some 9mm, and found a couple rounds with BADLY split cases. i havnt bothered buying anymore of their ammo

I started thinking badly about Wolf accuracy wise but recently discovered it shoots good or not depending on the rifle.

The 7.62x54r has always shot good in my Mosin's though. And it isn't corrosive because I purposely shot it and didn't clean one of my Mosin's to see if anything started forming.

Wolf shoots fine through any commi-bloc firearm. Putting it in anything else is a gamble. Although I have a feeling my G21 will eat the stuff just fine.

Fired atleast 20,000 rnds wolf threw my M16 in full auto, never had a single problem, and 20K is a low estimate. Its no dirtier then any other ammo, show me a clean burning ammo. The AR shoots its exhaust into its bolt, its flawed from the beginning, every brand is gonna dirty the gun. If your gun wont run Wolf, get a good gun.

7k rounds of Wolf received this week.

I think it's safe to say that I like it just fine.

No problems with wolf. Chrome bores clean easily. May be a little dirtier than some premium stuff so it takes a little more rag to clean up and 30 seconds worth of time.

IMO Wolf isn't worth HALF what you're paying for it.

That can be said for pretty much all ammo on the market today.

50 cents a round for 1980 surplus .308 for third world countries?

Ugh

Only jam I ever had in my G34 was when shooting...

wait for it...

USGI Ball ammo. Brass cased, straight out of the ammo can, not even surplus, but actual issue ammo.

The 700 rounds of wolf I shot that class ran fine without a hitch.

Silver or Brown Bear over Wolf.

Hmm. That's Barnaul. Here is some trivia on Russian ammo from some folks that have dissected them all. Wolf is Tula.

These were the Russian equivalents of Lake City before things changed over there.

This was x39, don't know if it's the same for others. I have sen similar autopsies for .223. End story is it all appears to be basically the same stuff.

"The Barnaul and Ulyanovsk fmj ammo same bullet, powder, and primer.
The Barnaul, Wolf, and Ulyanovsk Sapsan hp ammo all have the same powder and primer. The Silver Bear hp ammo has a silver primer. The Wolf and Silver Bear have boat tail hp bullets and the Barnaul and Sapsan have flat base hp bullets.
All the ammo have the same stick powder with the granules being the same size and color."
