I would like to know some history, age and value of this gun.

32 Winchester CTG, nickle plate, 6 inch barrel, serial number 54096 on the barrel, butt and cylinder. It has checkered wood grips. the hammer and trigger are blue.

The top of the barrel says, Smith and Wesson Springfield Mass.USA PAT'D Mar 27.94, May 21.95, Aug 4 .96, Dec 22.96, Oct 8.01, Dec 17.01, Feb 6.06,Sept 14,09

The condition is excelent with the exception of a little rust around the edge of the wood grip on the butt.

Some one with knowledge let me know what I have.

Thanks, Guntersville

That's almost certainly a .32-20. Nice cartridge. Equallivant to the .327 Mag or the 7.62X23 mm.

I assume this is a swing-out cylinder and not a top break model? We need to know that before we can tell the model.

Then you have an M&P in .32-20.

Take a cleaning rod with a jag tip and a tight patch and run it through the bore and see if you have a bulge in the barrel -- these pistols often do.

Disregard my last transmission!

Give us the serial number with the last three digits replaced by x's and someone can look it up to determine the age.

The hammer and trigger shouldn't be blue. S&W only case-color hardened them. That, coupled with the nickel plating, means it's probably a refinish.

Does it have target sights? Can you post a pic?

Value

Any Value bought for $190.00 Pretty Clean, Dont want to get Rid off it, I like Old things, and is this one of those M&P's it also has fixed sits thin blade on Barrel grove in back

In very good condition the Standard Catalog of S&W gave a value of $425.00 in 2006. Prices vary widely depending upon condition, but it sounds like you did well.
