Including pictures in your posts is easy, once you know how. All it requires are a few basic computer skills, and you, too, can post pictures just as well as those other BXXXXXds can!

First step, we start with the picture. For posting purposes (according to Forum Guidelines), it should be no more than 640 pixels wide, and, if it's a JPEG, no more than 244kb in file size. Other file types vary; the Attachment Manager lists the limits. Most printers come with an image editing program, and there are lots of free image editors you can download off the 'Net. It's pretty simple to reduce your pictures down to the suggested size.

Next, the picture must be uploaded to the 'Net. While there is a feature on the THR Attachment Manager to upload files directly from your computer to the THR website, it tends to load up the server (and slow down the site), so we'll upload our pictures off-site. There are quite a few image hosting sites such as Photobucket or Picture Trail that will store photos for free. Once we have uploaded our pictures, each one will be given a URL, or Web Address. This is what we will need to post a photo to a thread. Some sites will allow you to click a button to add a picture's URL to the clipboard on your computer, on others you will have to navigate to each individual picture and copy the Web Address manually. Either way, once you have the URL, it's a good idea to paste it into a text file so that, should something happen, you won't have to go back to the host site to retrieve the lost address.

In my particular case, I upload my photos to my ISP's server. Most ISPs set aside space on their server so that their clients may create a website, upload photos, etc. I have 50MB available to me for my own private use, and I store my pictures there. If I want to post a pic, I navigate to my website and copy the address directly from the address bar:

Hope this helps...

Thank you that is the best explanation I have seen. Now I'll be able to post pictures finally...I hope

I thought I would re-post this as there are some who are uncertain about how to go about posting pics in their threads. I have updated it to include instructions as to uploading pics to THR via the Attachment manager. The updated instructions are as follows:

If you wish to use the Attachment Manager to upload your pics to the THR server rather than going through an outside picture host (such as photobucket, etc.), it's actually pretty easy to do. If you want to start a new thread, then click on the "New Thread" button near the top of the forum heading (there's one near the bottom, too). This will bring up the "Post New Thread" window. If you're replying to a thread, then click on the "Post Reply" button, and it brings up the "Reply to Thread" window. Both of these are essentially the same, and are used the same way (I won't go into Topic Review or the like; all we want is the Message Field and the Additional Options sections).

Below the Message field (where you post your message) is a section titled "Additional Options". Scroll down to the "Miscellaneous Options" section where you'll see a button labled "Manage Attachments"

Then simply refer to Step #1 in post #1 and follow the instructions to add your photo to your thread. Hope this helps, if you have any questions, be sure to ask

Cool. I was planning on posting some pics from my last outing to the range, featuring one Remington 1858, and one 1848 First Model Dragoon.

This How-to makes will make it über easy. Thanks!

You don't need to center the image. In fact centering it can make it hard to look at if the page is stretched by a larger image.

THR suggests 640 pixels as a maximum, though 800 works ok too. Besides, if you stretch the page the centering won't be in effect anyway, and the page will take much longer to load due to the oversized pic. Anyway, these are just my suggestions based on THR guidelines...
