Robbery at a gunshow FAIL!!!

Isn't thievery really common at guns shows? Last time I went to one I saw two guys pointing and telling a cop to go stop someone, and the one before that I overheard a guy at his table saying 3 of his guns were stolen.

I can see how its pretty easy. Most everyone is carrying around a gun or two, so seeing someone just pick one up and walking off wouldn't raise many eyebrows.

the pathetic thing is that he just expected to be able to walk away just like that.. made no attempt whatsoever to hide his intention... theft is bad, stupidity + theft, worse....

I'm sure he was a good boy, turning his life around and was going to turn them in for a few gift cards at the next buyback.

Probably an aspiring rapper, too.

There was a case in New Zealand years ago where some dipstick tried to rob a gun store with a machete. I think you can guess what happened. I wish I could find the story somewhere.

There must not have been any close parking places at the Police Station, so instead of holding it up, he had to go the gun show to commit robbery.

He will probably try to sue the local Police Station.

*smirk*

Why weren't those guns cabled together? At the few gun shows I've been to in Oklahoma, vendors have had an electronic cable running through all of the trigger guards, that sounds a loud tone when the circuit is broken.

The article:

Man grabs four guns at gun show
BY JOE RODRIGUEZ
The Wichita Eagle
His first mistake was trying to steal four guns.

His second one was trying to steal them at a gun show.

The alleged crook scooped up four Smith & Wesson guns from a vendor's table at the RK Gun Inc. show Sunday at Cessna Activity Center, 2744 George Washington Blvd.

But he didn't make it far. The vendor and at least two others who were at the show grabbed the man before he could make it out the door, held him down, then cuffed him with zip ties -- hard plastic fasteners -- until law enforcement officers arrived.

Austin Sechler, the vendor who said the man tried to steal from him, said it was "the very wrong place to do this."

Sechler said the man, whom he estimated to be about 20, looked at guns at the tables of many sellers.

While it's not uncommon for potential gun buyers to examine different guns, the suspect did something a bit unusual, Sechler said.

"He was picking them up, putting them in his pocket, seeing how they fit in his pocket," Sechler said.

Eventually, the man -- who had been with several others earlier -- came back alone to Sechler's table. Sechler said the man stacked two of the guns on top of two others.

"I asked him, 'What are you doing?' " Sechler said. "And he looks at me, he loops his fingers through the trigger guards of all four of them, and headed for that door."

Sechler jumped over a table and grabbed the man. Soon, two or three others at the show helped hold the man down, Sechler said.

"He finally gave up when there was four guys laying on him," Sechler said.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office said that law enforcement officers arrived within five minutes of being called, and the man was taken into custody.

Sounds like the robber has had experience at using the shock of the moment to his advantage.

He's lucky he didn't get shot!
Why? every gun show I've ever been in has prohibited the carryin' of loaded weapons inside the show venue.

What should be the most troubling statement

The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office said that law enforcement officers arrived within five minutes of being called, and the man was taken into custody.

Shows me that even the best response is too late. If this man was shooting folks...but then again I'm preaching to the choir right?

Thieving scum are everywhere.

At one show I attended the scum picked up a handgun from one table and carried it four rows over and sold it to another dealer. Security was watching for the man at the door but he consented to a search and had no guns on him so he was free to go... with the cash. Dealer spotted his gun on the other table long after scum was gone.

Most of the dealers at our local gun show run a cable through the trigger guards on the weapons that are not enclosed in a case. Access requires the consent of the seller.

What the news reports don't tell you.........

The Sheriff of Sumner County Kansas was at the show (shopping) with his wife (who works with my wife).......they witnessed the thief trying to make his escape and the Sheriff was one of the people who detained the thief until local law enforcement officers arrived........

Stealing a firearm.......stupid!

Stealing a firearm at a gunshow........really stupid!

Stealing a firearm in front of a Sheriff.......priceless!!

They have to turn off the anti-theft cables to remove a gun when they sell one or someone wants to look at one closer. I imagine an enterprising thief could either watch to see when the system is deactivated for another unrelated customer or have a partner request to see a gun specifically to get the system temporarily deactivated.

Also, I just want to mention that the grammatically incorrect use of "fail" as in the thread title is retarded. Or "teh post title is an EPIC FAIL!!!!11 lol"

I know it's Internet slang. That doesn't make it any less retarded. If anything, it makes it more retarded.

Robbery at a gunshow FAILS!!!

How about that?

That stuff drives me nuts too. :)

The emails at work from people with colledge degrees just slay me. (Slay...How do ya like that one. :D)

Yep, only a moron would try to put several guns in his pocket in plain view, and then just try to walk out when confronted.

Fail sometimes is used as a noun. That didn't start with the internet. Engineers used to talk about "fails" (plural noun) in the aircraft industry, and no doubt other engineers in other industries did, too. The "failblog" is accepted as a sort of documentary or journal for such "fails," though many "fails" in recent years and published there have nothing to do with engineering. Witness (verb) the thread I started months ago on "Concealment Fails."

I think this is just a big misunderstanding.

He completely misunderstood the "Gun show loophole" that allows you to walk into a gun show pick out what ever you want and walk right out again without an ID check.

Wow that's hilarious. What was he thinking? I mean he could have at least been less suspicious about the whole thing. GOSH.
