I agree.



The original SOCOM 16 was just fine especially when sitting in a wooden stock.
If you want quad rails for your SOCOM, the TROY MCS is your best option.

It can be improved upon with very little effort.

I own 2.
They start to grow on you, especially after some trigger time.
They are the easiest shooting semi-auto .308 rifle I've ever shot (I've shot them all).

If you're gonna go full on "tactical" with a SOCOM 16, might as well drop it into a Sage EBR stock and be done with it.

I think I'm starting to get a reputation as an M14/M1A hater. I think they're beautiful rifles, just not what some American gunners fantasize they are.

I am a bit too, i agree fully with the last part. But this, this is hands down UGLY.

Now, now. A quad with a Sage looks sexy too.
But the Urban Camo never tickled my mall-ninja bone.

I guess the supposedly dead M14 is the ultimate Zombie rifle
because it's better than ever and kicking ass all over in AFG.

I dunno about that. The FN FNAR takes 1st, 2nd, and 3rd and after that, I'm pretty sure the bullpups will fill out the rest of the top 5.

Any short barrelled m14 looks to be an abomination.

I wish I could afford to trick out my pre ban M14. Isn't there some kind of low cost stock system with rails for a reasonable price?

uhg, I refused to drop $1200 for these last year, and now they can barely be had for under $2000....yeesh!!

It has been my experience that the very best general purpose M14 type rifle for civilian
use has an 18.0" barrel. Any small compromise is well worth the more compact OAL.
The over all length of my Mod 0 shrinks below 36 inches and it fits into a Pelican 1700


The 18.0" MK14s are also popular with a few select elements of our military.
