H20 MAN,

This photo you posted is of Mike Monsoor, recent posthumous Medal of Honor winner. You may have known that, but I wanted to share the story with everyone. This Navy SEAL intentionally threw himself on a grenade to save his fellow operators. He was the only one positioned to escape; however, the made the calculated decision to grip it to his chest, lay down, and use his body to absorb the blast. It is difficult to imagine a more bold sacrifice.

"CORONADO, Calif. - A Navy SEAL sacrificed his life to save his comrades by throwing himself on top of a grenade Iraqi insurgents tossed into their sniper hideout, fellow members of the elite force said.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael A. Monsoor had been near the only door to the rooftop structure Sept. 29 when the grenade hit him in the chest and bounced to the floor, said four SEALs who spoke to The Associated Press this week on condition of anonymity because their work requires their identities to remain secret.

"He never took his eye off the grenade, his only movement was down toward it," said a 28-year-old lieutenant who sustained shrapnel wounds to both legs that day. "He undoubtedly saved mine and the other SEALs' lives, and we owe him."

Monsoor, a 25-year-old gunner, was killed in the explosion in Ramadi, west of Baghdad. He was only the second SEAL to die in Iraq since the war began.

Show us your gun along with a historic or epic photo of it

quote ""Full metal jacket" is historical?"

well in a sense yes,it is a classic film. When I said historical I should have used more or a better term, any photo that is classic, historical or otherwise is just a great pic is what I meant.(scene from Clint Eastwood's latest flick with the Garand)?

For instance Hollywood wise John Wayne,Clint Eastwood,Band of Brothers, the scene from the movie Heat or any known scene ,film or actor would be good.

Any photo you choose to give as many members a chance to participate....

THis is the coolest thread ever! EVER!

I wish that I had a scanned copy of my Grand Father or Great Uncle in France (WWII), my other Great Uncle in the Pacific (WWII) or my Great (don't know how many greats) civil war photo. But this still the coolest pic thread ever.

maskedman great pic of the Yugo's,can't tell if they are 24/47 or M48 Mausers.

Here is my HRA Garand, while I have alot of great WW2 and Korea photos this time I decided to go out of the ordinary a bit and show the fact that American arms have been involved in many 3rd world skirmishes and wars also. Here is a pic from the Cuban revolt,no doubt many American Garands, carbines and M1903's remain on the island and who knows maybe one day they will make it back home to the CMP........

are we runnin' out of gas?OK one more very personal to me,my dad in Korea posing with a carbine.I asked him about the photo,he doesn't remember it without seeing it but he told me generally he carried a Garand, for a little while a M1903,but sometimes was issued a carbine for certain duty.

and my Bluesky Inland import carbine with aftermarket folding stock. It is my understanding that Bluesky imports were Korean bringbacks.

I'll let one of you all match yours up to this one.I always am a bit "whoa" when I see it.I don't think I would have the balls to sit on that shell even though it seems a dud.
