I normally carry a Glock 26 but now that summer is here I have switched to my Smith 37 Airweight, with Remington 158gr LSWCHP. Sorry the pic is a little out of focus I snapped it with my blackberry.

Carried how ?

Do you pack a reload?

How far away can you relibably hit a basketball with that gun ?

Just curious !

I carry it in a Desantis pocket holster, speedloader is in the other pocket.

I keep groups tight up to 10 yards.

Try some longer distances. I bet you'll surprise yourself. (the GUN can do it.....:D)

.

Will do...

Also I love the wood grips but they are so smooth. Anybody know if there is any treatment I can use to make them a little tacky?

Yeah, but there are drawbacks to that. it will make the grip grab at clothing and "print" and also get in your way when you go to draw. That is why NONE of my guns have rubber grips, among other reasons. For close to the body or in the pocket carry, I insist on smooth grips, and compensate with a firmer grip. That said, those laminate grips like that are harder and harsher with recoil than polymer or solid wood grips, so maybe try some smooth versions of those.

if you do want to experiment with those, it will wreck the look but just bead or sandblast them and it will dimple them up. Rub some tung oil or similar on them afterwards to even it out and it may improve them for you.

I carried a 60 2" a while and I could shoot it almost as well as a 2.5" k frame with practice, and I could shoot that gun almost as well as a 4" K frame. The 2" J's can be dang accurate if you do your part and practice with them.

I carry a J frame 24/7/365 in my front pocket. I think it's just about the perfect carry handgun. I routinely practice out to 25 yards and sometimes much further. The J frame (or any short barrel handgun) isn't inaccurate, the shooter is.

Good advice.... thanks Oro.

I also use an Uncle Mikes ankle holster from time to time for "formal events", I have tried about 6 ankle holsters and the cheapest one (uncle Mikes) is the best. I can wear it all day with out discomfort. I do take a 4'x3' piece of neoprene cut from an old knee brace to keep against the velcro to aid in the comfort. I wear Redwing or Timberland boots with all jeans/pants so the ankle holster sits on the top of the boot. I guess it helps it is 17.6 oz loaded
