Anyone know what shotgun (make/model) Ash used in Evil Dead 2?

"Alright you primitive screw-heads, listen up. See this? This is my boomstick! It's a 12-gauge double-barreled Remington. S-Mart's top of the line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan; retails for about one hundred nine, ninety-five. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right, shop smart, shop S-Mart!"

i don't really know, sorry.

Yes, I enjoy that scene a great deal, too, but I'm wondering if it's a custom prop or if it's a real gun.

Last SXS made by Remington was the Model 1899, I think. They quit making them before WWII.

IIRC, the shotgun brandished by Bruce Campbell was a Savage 311.

Don't depend on Hollywood to get their guns right....

in Evil dead 1, the gun was a savage (i think) single shot in 12 gauge, and the gun magically grew another barrel inbetween movies.

Considering that the movies arent really "sequals" in the traditional sense of the world it doesnt make all that little sense. Evil Dead 2 is essentially a "Better Budget" (the word BIG certainly does NOT apply) version of Evil Dead 1. You have to suspend a heck of a lot of disbelief in the first place to watch any of the movies so it never really bothered me. Whats more amusing is how Ash manages to fire about 4 rounds at a time through his SG and reload faster than racking the slide on a pump in Army of Darkness. Of course i think the whole movie was pretty tongue in cheek anyways so it never bothered me.

They aren't remakes. There had to be changes made to the ends of the first and second movies to facilitate the sequels, but they are sequels. The reason the second seems like a remake is because they wanted to recap what happened in the first one but couldn't get the rights to the film. They simply reshot it and left out some of the characters, perhaps to save time. That's why we reach the point where the first movie ended within ten minutes of the start of the second one.

Savage 311 in ED1.

Unsure about ED2.

Stoeger Coach Gun in AOD.

So, the sarcastic response with the quote from AOD is unnessicary, because that's NOT the gun that was used. Sawed-offs are illegal, and despite a budget increase, a live shotgun was used (though not loaded, of course), and the Stoeger is very short in length, so it worked well for the sawed-off look.

WOW, a thread resurrected after 5 years. That has to be some kind of record. And this really is a Zombie thread, well, evil demons come to life thread, but that's pretty close.
I'm a huge Bruce Campbell fan, currently watching him on my dvd of Burn Notice (good show from what I've seen). Bubba Ho Tep is one of the funniest films ever shot, Bruce does a great Elvis.
And FWIW, sawed off shotguns are not illegal as long as they measure out above the required length, or you jump thru the multitude of hoops and pay your money. That's something I'm currently doing, still trying to figure out how paying a $200 tax somehow makes it safer.
