Just purchased a victory model at gun show.....need to replace missing lanyard ring.....biddiing on ebay.....any other suggestions? Thanks from a new member.

Checked Numerich's list of Victory parts....they don't list a "lanyard loop".......Thanks for the suggestion, though....chances are I'll need them at some point.

Just for grins, check Smith & Wesson. They still get occasional orders that require a lanyard loop.

Happy Day! :)

Use our search feature and the key word "victory" and you'll find a lot of information on the Victory Model in past threads or posts.

Tip on installation - I dont know if numrich's sells the pin (it appears the factory just used cheap nail shafts or similar). If not, a great way to install them is to go to Ace Hardware, buy a 3/32" roll pin. Clip it slightly thinner than the grip butt thickness and drive it in. It will hold the butt swivel a bit more firmly than a simple, solid pin. I believe the correct size was 3/32" if you don't want to take your revolver and have to lay it out on the shelf and test pin fits (like I did the first time).

All this love for Victory Model S&Ws . . . During the Vietnam War, for each flight, I would fish out of the locker in the ready room one of many bandolier holsters containing Victory Model with mouldy .38sp tracers in loops on the chest belts. I'd load five of them into the revolver and position the empty chamber under the hammer. When I returned, I'd put the rounds back in their loops, and drop the rig back in the locker. I don't think anyone looked after those handguns, or the ammo, during the entire six-month cruise! The Victory Model revolver was just a piece of equipment, on the same level as my plotting board. Sorta reminds me of going into an antique store and saying to my wife, "Hey, my folks had one of those!"

I found the Victory Model to be very accurate when shooting from the flight deck, single action, at garbage being dumped off the fantail.

Cordially, Jack

Ignored, unloved and uncared for, yet they always worked, even though the newest ones were made during 1945. You could have done worse... :uhoh:

man I love the Victories, I have one with just the darn nicest trigger, shoots like a dream and if it was the only gun I owned I would not feel outgunned

FYI - I just noticed, over on the S&W forums, that there's a Victory from Jer's Guns for $200 - missing stocks and lanyard ring, no idea condition.

Couldn't find a VM in Ft. Worth today....but I did make a trade for a Model 10-5, 4". It was wearing some custom rosewood grips (originals came with it)....real fancy..not what I wanted so I sold them to a dealer for $40 (they retail for $69 new). Pretty good day. I love these old Smiths.

To think when I joined the Highway Patrol, they issued us Victory Models or Colt's Commando's
When they went to Model 66's we could buy our issue guns for $40 bucks. I bought one of each and then traded them off for something stupid.:banghead:
