depends on the fishing location... with a relatively low chance of needing it... (wildlife or other) PA-63... if the chances of needing it go up, then more likely a smith 64. if the chances of needing it go up even further.... well... good ole 12gauge is my friend.
I take a shotgun when I camp/fish on the islands up by Canada's border. There are bears on the islands and sometimes they get way too used to people and the good food that's carelessly left out.

we catch enough snakes, turtles, alligators, etc. on trot lines and jug lines that on occasion it comes in handy.
