What's the beef with A.R.M.S.?

Where was this thread 8 years ago?!?

I have several of their products...maybe too many, but I've never had any problems with them, YMMV.

As to the FAL rail, mine fit great and stayed that way for thousands of rounds until I sold the gun last year (DSArms).

About the rings chewing up rails...Bullshist, they don't, and several different brands to boot.

Pot metal? Are you serious? My 40L is magnetic, which would rule out "pot metal". It may be cast steel, IDK, but pot metal it is not.

Sorry to hear about their political dealings, I'll use them till I loose them, then replace with something else I guess.

Support of anti-gun politicians, and ridiculous lawsuits are reason enough to avoid using their products, even if they weren't, by nearly all reports, shoddily made.

I agree, but I'm not about to throw away what I have, as long as it is still in working order. Seems like cutting off one's nose in spite of the face.

Recent reports I suppose?

I've had their stuff since they "were" the only game in town, and what I have, or have had, easily compared to what I had form Larue, and some of the others I've tried. I'm not knocking the others either, just saying that all of them seemed comparable, and other than maybe a design difference that was desirable at the moment, just not any real difference quality wise. Now I havent bought (or had the need to) anything from any of them for a couple of years now, so I suppose things have changed. Or is it possible, its all marketing and bickering from all sides and they are all just airing dirty laundry?

Yup.

Yes, cast steel...if you can call it that. With the characteristics and strength of pot metal. Give it a name; I call it junk.

Well I bought a HK91 clone that came with one and it works very well. I think alot of the beef comes from their AR15 products.

ok, i'm intrigued. I just bought a Trijicon ACOG TA31ECOS that includes the ARMS mount. Seems pretty well made to me and is ridiculously tight. It came with the unit so it's not like I had a choice.

If these are the real issues i'm a little surprised that Trijicon would use them. Very interesting

I believe that also during the on-going fight with Larue they had people from the company getting accounts on gun boards to attempt to sway people. One person was outed as Dick Swan's wife as I recall. Of course in their postings they claimed to have no relationship with the company.

All my AR-15 optics are in LaRue mounts. They used to be in ARMS mounts. As soon as LaRue mounts were available, I converted over because ARMS mounts would eventually get loose and there is no way to tighten them without sending them back for repair. LaRue mounts are adjustable by the user.

With all I've heard about ARMS over the years I personally will never purchase any of their products. If I ever purchased a gun with any ARMS acessories on it the first thing I would do is remove those parts.
