Holster Choices:

Alright, so I got an amazing 9mm Colt "New Agent" and I want to carry it. Here's my conundrum:

I'm 5'10" and weight about 180 pounds. so I'd call myself medium framed.
I fit into 32s perfectly.
For belts I wear my 1 3/4 inch ACU belts or something similar.

I want to carry it outside of my pants, because I don't have the money to start buying a full new wardrobe of pants (seeing as pants are the only piece of clothing I'm extremely picky about I also don't want to put my poor wife through those pains) and I wear semi-tight t-shirts or semi-loose button ups regularly.
What is there for holsters in this case that will conceal a 3 inch 1911 on me?

I have seen several styles online that seem like they would work, some of these are:

A "Matrix" belt holster and a
Yaqui slide belt holster

What's your folks input on this? Any experience? Any alternatives I haven't seen?

stick 2 fingers between your body and your pants... do they fit? if they fit you can wear an IWB holster.

Check out the c5 Leather's Montana Xlt IWB holster (click on names to enter c5 Leather's site). I have about the same exact frame (body) as you, and even with my tight-fitting jeans (at the waist, that is), I am able to easily get the Montana into the 4 o'clock position, inside my pant waist - and that is with a FULL-SIZE .45 AUTO PLUS an additional Double Magazine Pouch on the other side!

Make sure you have a good, heavy belt, and not some flimsy worn-out belt!The heavy gun belt helps to support the holster just where you need it and keeps it there.

I can sit, stand, drive, fasten my seat belt, etc, with NO PROBLEMS, and can VERY EASILY draw from any of these positions if necessary!

If you want to wear OWB, probably the best way to conceal is with a pancake style holster. They usually carry high and close to the body and they are usually pretty smooth allowing the cover garment to slide over them and not hang up.

For guys that actually have a waistline, you might want to consider this ... a paddle holster that rides the pistol high into the waist for easy concealment.

I'll see if I can't try out an IWB but I really don't think I can fit it into my pants comfortably. We'll see.
As for pancake holsters, they seem pretty pricey, but the idea seems really good.

Has anyone even seen a really minimal belt holster pancake style? I know this may be a contradiction of terms, but the Yaqui style holster really caught my eye. One of those in FBI can't and high riding sounds like a dream holster.

All this makes me kinda wish I could try them on at a shop before I buy one. *le sigh*

Sounds like we have the same build, except I wear 34's. I've had good luck with the Galco N3 (a knock-off of a Mitch Rosen ARG). It is IWB, but might work for you because it and the 1911 are pretty thin. I carry a hi-power in it and it keeps it very close to the body. It has a single off-set belt loop so you can tuck around it if needed.

I would expect it would do even better with your gun since it is thinner through the grip than a hi-power.

FWIW, I have a Galco yaqui slide, and I like it for the range. However, it doesn't hold the grip in tight enough to conceal with a t-shirt.

Good comments above. I'll just add that the trend toward wearing pants slightly low around the hips, rather than at the natural waistline, will add to the difficulty of comfortable carry and concealment.

+1 on the High Noon line of holsters. They are well-made, they are not overly expensive, their have an extensive line of OWB models, and many of the various models are in supply and ready to ship.

Checking out some of these makers. I am thinking I'll probably end up with some sort of high riding OWB pancake or similar holster at this point.

Yaqui slide belt holster

I was taught at a tactical class these were not a good choice unless yuo enjoy dropping your firearm on the floor when you set down.
