Ran up on some "Alberts Swaged Lead Pistol Bullets" the other day. These are 210gr swc .410 dia for 41 Mag. I could not pass them up at $8.00 per box. Esp after getting soaked $25.00 per box on the Speer 220gr jsp Half Jacket. Anybody Know anything about these Alberts Bullets? We 41 mag shooters take a beating:banghead:

I am familiar with Alberts bullets. They where a small lead bullet manufacturing company in Northern New Jersey some 20-30 years ago and made a full line of lead handgun bullets and most were of soft swaged lead if I remember correctly. Sometime later they did change their name to Taurus Bullets. Around my way, they were known for manufacturing lead 38 caliber bullets with a large frontal cavity with a point in the middle like the Federal Hydra-Shock jacketed load made today. It was an extremly soft bullet and it would expand to the size of a nickel when penetrating gelatin blocks. As matter of fact I still have a box of them in my reloading room. To recap, Alberts Bullets have been out of business for many years now.

I used those for awhile many moons back. Then, about two years ago, I found 1500 at a great price. They are soft. They don't like slower burning powders nor fast speeds.

Use something like Bullseye and stay in the 700 - 800 fps range and you'll be okay.

I went from a Unique speed powder to Bullseye with my first box of 500 Alberts bullets. Groups shrunk from 3" to 1.5" at 25 yards just with the powder change.

Kind of un-fair to compare a swaged, soft lead bullet and a jacketed bullet in price. A real case of apples and oranges.

As stated the Alberts bullets are pretty soft. When I tried them (years ago) they leaded badly, even at moderate velocities. I wouldn't expect much in the way of performance from any Magnum, even the step-child 41.

I don't think we're comparing the soft swaged to the jacketed in a strick sense. The OP asked about the Alberts bullets and others lent the experiences.

I hope the OP understands these are not bullets for magnum pressure loads.
