A guy at the range told me that CHP holders can buy as many handguns a month as they wish. www.virginiagunlaw.com shows the same information but seems questionable... anyone have experience with this?
Yes, that is true. Still need to go through the background check, but permit holders are exempt from the one gun a month law. Virginia code 18.2-308.2:2 exempts holders.
Your background check will generally take a bit longer to come back, about an hour or two, because of poor communication between the organization that has proof you have a CCW permit and the organization performing the background check.
Absolutely true, but I've never experienced any delays whatsoever. The check is run by the State Police, they don't need to check with anyone else to verify your CHP status. We almost got this one overturned this year, hopefully next session we can kill it.
For those without a carry permit, there is a form you can complete in order to purchase multiple handguns. It was on the State Police site the last time I looked.
