Met a guy at the range the other day who kept a brag book in his range bag. He had a soft leather folder of laminated "prizes" (targets) he had made some amazing shots on. He said it was just in case it never happens again. I thought it a novel idea.

Anyone else know some who does this or maybe do it yourself?

I don't keep a book, but in my case it'd be one of those short, sad little storie.....

Not to sound overly curmudgeonly, but why would I care about something that I did yesterday? Today is the only day that matters, at least in that regard.....

I used to keep a range book for load development. I shot stick on targets, so I could just cut off the group and stick them on a sheet of looseleaf paper instead of taking my cardboard target backer home. There were some nice groups I kept in there, but never brought it out at the range to brag. Since I discovered OnTarget, I don't even know what happened to that book.

I don't see the point. Like rbernie said; when it comes to marksmanship, the present is all the matters. The only target that counts is the one you are shooting. Sure, practice makes us closer to perfect (which we will never reach), but I don't see saving targets as having a point.
But, it's a free country. Whatever charges your powder.

So after 132 shots at a 1,000 yard target, I finally got one on the target and it hit that 12" disc dead center. I labeled it, put that sucker in a briefcase and carry it to every shoot. :D

I care about what I did yesterday, and hope for a better tomorrow.

I think a NASCAR driver cares about his win at Daytona, or the Championship at the end of the season.

It sorta goes along with competition and being able to show folks what ones capable of. Whether in an actual match of done by someone while alone.

Boy, there sure are some unsentimental shooters around here!

I don't think there's anything wrong with enjoying memories from the past. Would you guys throw out medals or trophies from shooting competitions that you had won in the past?

I kep a load book for each of my rifles. I don't shoot much past 250 yrds so I use a sheet of notebook paper with stick on 1" orange dots for targets. I put all info for that load on the sheet of paper. I don't use it to brag, just for reference.

i actually do the opposite.....i keep the targets i shot the worst on.....and put them somewhere i see every day....

so i can remind myself to never shoot that bad ever again......

I have targets hanging on the front door, does that count?

MrsBFD says I can't hang them on the outside, but there are some I'm rather proud of magneted to the inside.

I have data books for across the course and long range rifle competition. The information recorded weather conditions, sight settings, load data, scores and etcetera.

Yeah, I keep a book, mostly for load data. It's the biggest pack of lies I've ever compiled because it's only the good targets and not any of the bad targets. Scientifically it's not very significant but I sure like looking at the nice groups.

Thanx, Russ

The only bragging I have is 4th award Expert on the Marine KD course. 20 Years ago. Do not know if I could do it again.......

Year ago a elder gentleman had a brag book and showed me it. The real interesting thing that it showed was the amount of rounds through his 700 barrel and that the groups were opening up........or was it he was getting worse with age at shooting?

I keep some targets for load development but have no desire to gloat about some shots.

Let me show you the one from 900 yards......blindfolded......one arm tied back....while the sun was in my eyes. Whatever

Believe nothing that you hear and half of what you see. lol

I keep targets in 3-ring binders for my guns. They're for load development and I have the good, the bad, and the ugly.

I had a cardboard target i punched a smile on the head and a <3 heart shape in the right spot. It has long disapeared. I do have a load book with the targets and load information. Now if i shot a half inch group at 250 with my open sight 22 i'd keep it.
