Found this pic and like the way it looks. How do I get a rig like this? Do I have to buy a 10/22 and then switch everything out? How do I go about it as they dont sell this on the Ruger sight. Anyone?

Well, it seems that the Ruger 10/22 is one of those guns that simply has catalogs worth of available aftermarket parts. I own one, and I've thought of building it up a bit, but just haven't had the time/money to do so (the little .22lr always falls low on the priority list when I'm allocating money to my gun collection).

However, if you look through a copy of the Midway or Cabelas master catalog, you'll notice that a few pages are dedicated to 10/22 parts. You can buy new trigger groups, barrels, stocks, and even stripped receivers (through an FFL).

Just for example (and having no idea what parts are actually on the pictured 10/22 in this thread), I tried to piece those options together for you from the Midway catalog, building a gun from the ground up. The sky seems to be the limit on 10/22's, and you can spend as little or as much as you want. You'll also save money if you already own a 10/22 receiver:

1) Barrel: A pictured one that looks just like the one on your pictured rifle is showing a price of $345.

2) Stock: Volquartsen Custom stock that looks similar to your picture: $230.

3) Trigger: Volquartsen Custom Match Trigger Group: $210

4) Volquartsen Custom 10/22 stainless receiver: $430.

5) Ruger 10/22 competition bolt assembly: $190

So, there you have it! A $1,450 Ruger 10/22 :) Anyway, I'm sure you can make one look real nice (and shoot really well) for a lot less than that. I simply opened the catalog and tried to pick pieces that looked like that picture, and that's what I came up with.

Well one way would be to build it yourself. That way you have zero paper trail to you on it, and it's 100% legal for your own use.

Now if you just wanted to buy one, these guys have a pretty good selection.

This might be a cheaper route, you buy the finished receiver and then all the parts. Midway, Brownells, Numrich all have the non-FFL required parts.

If you go with the Ruger, and try to make it look like that one, you will buy most of the same stuff and end up with a pile of Ruger parts you don't need. That is the route I took, but it was over a number of years.

Thanks for the quick replies.

And wow I didnt think that it would be that much to get that gun. Probably will have to put that on the wish list. Not impossible but I can get the cz75 kadet and the Sig 522 for the same cost and those are on my list of .22lr's to get.

But I do like that rifle and those rifles at volquartsen look nice to.

Actually found the gun pictured above and it is this gun here.

You can build one yourself for somewhere between $500 and $800, although it won't be quite as nice as a Volquartsen.

My 10/22 build ended up being a Marlin 917vs. All of the 10/22s they had didnt do it for me for one reason or another most had some sort of scratch on it from being handled and placed in crowded racks at the gun store. So I seen this marlin and it satisfied the urge so I got it. The scope is a nikon prostaff.
