defintely a formidible ole' war horse.

i really like it. i think thats one of the better jobs ive seen done on the cmp birch. you have some of the nicest cmp rifles ive ever seen here.

it really almost could be mistaken for walnut (in fact if i didnt know i would swear both handgaurds were walnut)

p.s. did you bust your hand?

It'l get better, just keep rubbing it in. The real secret to a great linseed finish is to let the first coat dry totally. I have an M1A1 carbine stock that looks like glass. God only knows just how many tiny, rubbed in coats that wood has had, but it gleams. You're gettin' there but you have a way to go yet.

By the way, I use a 50/50 boiled linseed turpentine mix.........usually mix it up in a baby food bottle. After that first coat is dry buff and rub the heck out of it with an old terry cloth towl, add a very small amount then and rub it till your hand is almost on fire. Let that dry and repeat, repeat, repeat.

Nice.

My HRA looked like this when I got it.

I stripped it with boiling water and raised some dents with an iron. After a very light sanding and maybe 3 coats of Minwax Tung Oil Finish it now looks like this:

(Couldn't find a decent pic of just the rifle)

Looks great, 1KPerDay! I'm planning to refinish my service grade as well in the near future. It currently has a Greek replacement stock and the hand guard is a bit mismatched in terms of color with the stock. I'm still trying to decide exactly what to finish it with (to best help me match the hand guard and stock).

Good looking stock finish.

Happy Valley huh? I knew something about the background in the vid/pics looked Utahish.
